Hopefully no more injections 😃
So 12 months ago I was referred to Opthalmology after an opticians appointment and had a macular oedema in my left eye. I saw a consultant and he said brvo. After a short time I started receiving lucentis injections. I dreaded these as always had such bad after effects. I would be climbing the walls

Iodine loading test?
I have recently had a urine iodine test which showed I was very deficient. Apparently this test in isolation isn't particularly useful so I would like to follow it up with a 24hr loading iodine test. Would my gp be likely to do this if I requested it or don't they do it on the NHS

Reduced Carb Diet and a Little Weight Loss is Reducing My Blood Lipids and Liver Inflammation Markers
I just thought I'd share my findings, maybe it'll help encourage those struggling with carbohydrate reduction and a change in diet. For the past 6 weeks i have been restricting carbohydrates (to around 100ish grams per day), with the complete elimination of added sucrose or foods containing sucrose as

Small pus spots after 2 weeks.
It normal to have small spots with pus under dried blood spots after 2 weeks? I salt wash it twice a day and apply iodine after the wash.

Strange white shiny, scaley, patch on penis head?
Please help does anyone have any idea what this could be? I have had it for a few months now & it doesn’t hurt, itch or anything like that but it’s driving me crazy just knowing that it’s there... Sometimes it can look quite faded so you can’t see it as much but then other times especially in the morning

The state of urinary iodine is not related to either TSH or Free T4
This paper shows that TSH and FT4 in blood does not reflect urinary iodine levels. This indicates the thyroid is flexible to iodine supply and is robust to limited iodine in diet.

Feeling dreadful
I was diagnosed with Graves early 2017. I got back on an even keel and was in remission for 18 months but out of the blue had a thyroid storm in July 2020. I've been on Carbimazole, Propranolol and Apixaban since then. I haven't actually seen an Endo at all. I was diagnosed when in hospital in July

Strap in. This is a doozy. My husband used some iodine solution.... I broke out like crazy after coming in contact with a single drop of it. I checked the label and it had something suspish: "Makon 8." What is that, I ask? Here is what I found. Polyethylene glycol ether. Here is a giant list of trade

The longer the antithyroid drug is used, the lower the relapse rate in Graves' disease: a retrospective multicenter cohort study in Korea
Many have reported here that they have received an antithyroid medicine for a long period (whether carbimazole or propylthiouracil). However, long-term use of an anti-thyroid medicine is frequently denied. There is often considerable pressure to choose RAI or thyroidectomy. Of course, if the patient

I asked members here about washing out with saline after injections recently as I had started getting keratitis ( severe inflammation / inability to tolerate light/ pain) after last two lots of injections ( I have had 38 now) in both eyes. Studies were vague about whether washing iodine out after injection
