Have been experiencing headaches for the past few days (but no other symptoms) and am wondering if GCA is more likely at the beginning of one's PMR experience or can it occur any time? Am also wondering if GCA is more likely at higher doses of prednisone or lower doses? Am lastly wondering if existing

Eye Drops
I think I have accepted that I need eye drops, I have been struggling with dry eyes for a few years now, but I was desperate to try and treat the cause rather than use drops. However even though intermittently they improve, they always return. I’m not sure if it’s related to my thyroid issues or menopause

Excellent Letter in the Telegraph 24/8/22
I wish to express my thanks to Pam Perceval-Maxwell for her excellent letter in the Daily Telegraph 24/8/22, headlined "Living with the Anxiety of losing one's sight for want of an appointment for an essential injection". I meant to post sooner about this. This letter only echoes the Telegraph's

nefopam and glaucoma
Hi I am a health care assistant and I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my hips. My GP prescribed nefopam and I thought nothing of it. Since starting the nefopam I have not been able to sleep. My main concern is that I have acute angle closure glaucoma and I am worried about what damage it might

Flare or not?
I have been reducing pred by 1mg per month. Reduced to 7mg on 1st August and 6mg on 1st Sept. I had a nasty virus a few weeks ago and have felt really bad since i.e.usual pain and stiffness at onset of PMR. To top it all last week was told I am not able to drive again because my eyesight has declined

Not sure I belong here
Not sure I belong here, as after 8 months waiting to be seen at the glaucoma clinic following a routine eye test that turned not so routine, I'm not sure if I have glaucoma or not. I was told in January that I had damage to the optic nerve in my right eye with matching visual field loss. The appointment

supplements for teenage migraine
Hello, Can anyone advise which supplements are worth trying for migraines and how much? I saw on the Cleveland’s clinic site the mention of riboflavin, magnesium and coenzyme q10 but it didn’t say how much and if suitable for a 14 year old. My daughter has suffered migraines since the age of 3

taking hydroxychloroquine with a visual impairment
hello, I recently started taking hydroxychloroquine about a month ago due to my joint pain. I am visually impaired and my rheumatologist educated me on the potential risk of retinal toxicity. In his opinion, the benefits out weigh the risks and since my vision is already poor, he figured that any vision

Could B12 deficiency cause astigmatism?
I know that blurred vision is a symptom of B12d/PA but could astigmatism be possible as a result? I have been diagnosed with it and it seemed a curious thing to happen since I've had perfect eyesight for 45 years. Could be aging but wondered if anyone knew or had any experience of blurred vision

Lyrica/Pregabalin side effects
I am currently taking Lyrica/pregabalin with side effects of fatigue, clumsiness and eye twitching. Has anyone had these side effects subside with time? I've been taking it for about a month now. It seems to work fairly well but not sure I can handle the side effects. I'm only on 25mg.

Can Blindness be caused by using Aldara (Imiquimod) with GCA?
My dermatologist is once again pushing Aldara (in the US, it's called Imiquimod) to help control my pre-cancerous skin "spots" (Actinic Keratosis) on my head. I have GCA, and I'm concerned because this med induces your immune system to go into overdrive against the spots, killing them, which leads to
