Blurred vision - alternatives to Tocilizumab
One of our PMRGCAuk members has sent the following question: "My mother has GCA which unfortunately resulted in 50% sight loss across both eyes. She has been on Tocilizumab for about 8 months now, and her steroids have been gradually reduced to now nil. Initially, she was happy to be off the steroids

Cholecystectomy & PCa in Patients with Gallstones.
New study below [1]. Here is another curiosity. (Cholecystectomy is removal of the gall bladder. It is a common procedure in the U.S. - ~600,000 annually!) Cholecystectomy was associated with a ~50% increased risk of PCa in years 1 through 5 following the procedure, & double the risk thereafter. From

G68 scan changed my treatment plan
The kind Moespy here in the group suggested that I write a post about my upcoming treatment. My RP was in Dec 2017 and I was a Gleason 9...three positive lymph nodes and seminal vesicle involved. While my initial post-surgery PSA was a wonderful .009 it slowly crept up over two years to a .38 in Oct

Has anyone had endometrioma return & get the chance to freeze eggs before ovary removal? or if not how did you cope?
Iām 26 with no children, I was miss diagnosed under gynocology last year, they thought it was a tube but I had a 10x12cm hemorraghic cyst which was in my left ovary removed last August along with my ovary, my right ovary then flared up 3 weeks later & they drained 500ml of blood from it. Now it has started

Hysterectomy
Hi I am due for total abdominal hysterectomy and ovary removal at the end of this month and will force me into surgical menopause. Just wondered if anyone else on here with liver problems had undergone this operation and whether it had caused any issues with their health? Thanks

Oophorectomy, anyone?
Hello everyone! I just had a scan and feel really grateful that so far the Ibrance and Letrozole have reduced the lesions on my rib and pelvis. I am 50 years old, and am premenapausal, so I get a Lupron shot every month. I have been thinking about getting my ovaries removed since 1.) I'm not using

Hi, This is my first time posting here. I'm 37, trans (ftm), though with all the "lady parts" of my reproductive system until this winter. I was diagnosed with stage 2a ovarian cancer (grade 2 endometrioid type) after an emergency oophorectomy in November and a successful abdominal hysto (etc.) 5 weeks

Horrible nausea but 3 weeks post op
Hi all! My excision and polypectomy were done on the 15th of Jan. Recovery was fairly straight forward, bleeding for 2 weeks which i believe included my period, bit of pain in my left leg (see previous post), but nothing of any great concern really. I returned to work last week. But since Sunday I have

Uretra and ovary stuck solid with adhesions
Hello, have had bilateral salpingo oophorectomy via laparoscopy today. Was more complex than thought as my ovary was fused with adhesions to my uretra. Took some time but managed to chip away. Very painful recovery so far and needed to stay in hospital overnight. Just wandered if anyone has experiences

AF and gallbladder removal.
Flecainide has halted my bouts of SVT but a new arrhythmia has now developed. HB is a steady 54 during them but I get breathless and a strange feeling in my chest with flip flops. Now I scheduled for a gallbladder removal under GA next Friday. I am afraid to have it done while I have this strange arrhythmia

Unicornuate Uterus and Endometriosis
Hello everyone, I'm a 52 year old mum to a 24 year old daughter who suffers terribly with endometriosis. She was also born with a unicornuate uterus with a rudimentary horn. She's tried all sorts of treatments over the past 3 years without much success, she's now looking at a hysterectomy. Her endometriosis

Reoccurrence of Rectovaginal endo
Iāve had an MRI recently which shows my Rectovaginal endo has reoccurred after hysterectomy and bilateral ovary removal. My gynaecologist think the risks of further surgery may outweigh the benefits. She has treated me for years in a BSGE specialist centre and I trust her implicitly. My question is whether

Thy3a snd Thy3f -watch and wait?
I am new here and was wondering if anyone could offer advice as things seem to be moving too quick. I am female and 52. On being referring to ENT in April 2019 for a lump under chin, which turned out to be enlarged lymph, not of importance, it was discovered during ultrasound that I had āsuspiciousā

I have to withhold my tocilizumab
I was taken into hospital again with cellulitis on my leg put on intravenous antibiotics and am now at home on antibiotic tablets. This means that I have to withhold my tocilizumab. My concern is that if I have a flare what should I do. Increase my pred and by how much? I am now on 8mgms. Tried to reduce
