Reducing steroids after illness
I should know this and I have written it down somewhere. When I first had the acute urinary infection I doubled up from 5mgs of Prednisolone to 10 and my CRP was 270, it was 70 last week and I was told to continue doubling until I had finished the antibiotics which I did today. As it is only 12 days

Asthma & heart rate
Having just had the second course of
steroids
in 2 months, it would seem that this exacerbation had also affected my heart, leading to an irregular heartbeat. I seem to recall a similar thing happening to me about 5 years ago, when I had a chest infection but it sorted itself out once I was better.

Wound healing and Steroid Use
I'm wondering if I am going to take longer to heal because of the
steroids
and if there is anything I can do to speed things up! My body has always come through for me. I have always been strong and resilient with no physical issues. This is miserable!

PMR/ Hypothroidism
I had PMR and was totally let down by doctors at surgery, I managed to wean slowly off
steroids
myself, after 2 years and I’ve been medication free for 8 months!!! However, I wanted to have inflammatory markers checked, had discomfort in shoulder my markers were the best they’ve ever been!

I have read it daily and been helped from the experiences of others particularly in terms of reducing the amount of
steroids
. I am now down to 2.5mg (after 2.5 years!) However, without the encouragement and advice from this site I would have been floundering. Good luck with your presentation.

gp recommends her advice for every flare up
I spoke to my gp today after starting
steroids
two weeks ago for PMR. We discussed what to do if I have a flare up, especially when I’m tapering. She said I should contact her with any flare up, as I may need a blood test.

How cortisone/pred works - a new study reports on a potential target to replace steroids
I thought you'd be interested in this article about a study from Germany which has worked out how pred works - and knowing that is the basis for developing other drugs to replace it. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20240410/Study-unlocks-how-cortisone-activates-the-bodye28099s-natural-e2809cbrakese2809d-on-inflammation.aspx

Severe Eosinophilic Asthma
My husband has been very incapacitated by this since March 2020 which came on suddenly and has not improved since then despite continuous
steroids
, inhalers and trying the latest injections. He’s had to pack up his business and still cannot walk 10 yards without breathlessness .

Biologics
They’re saying the high doses of inhaled
steroids
are the cause of my infections, but I’m colonised with pseudomonas and have nebulised antibiotics to keep under control.

Anyone with behcet's taking rinvoq?
Since starting rinqov I've successfully reduced my
steroids
to a low level 2.5mg daily. Hopefully will come off completely soon but I'm really feeling the tapering drops even by 0.5 mgs every 4 weeks. Interested to hear if anyone else is on it!

MRI to Check things out
I definitely need another course of
steroids
or something more suitable long term as my mobility is getting worse, I can hardly stand or walk on bad days at the minute. I'm really hoping it's nothing sinister or MS but something is definitely off.

Is eosinophilic asthma mostly severe?
I think it is a type of eosinophilic rhinitis I have as I have to keep taking high dose nasal
steroids
and my blood eosinophil count is always 0.6 x 10/L

help for cirrhosis
The new doc has put me on
steroids
for a few weeks for inflammation and another med. for inflammation . I have read all of your comments for at least a year about o eating healthy, and I’ve lost 20 pounds. I’m afraid now that I’m too late because of the cirrhosis.

Severe mental reaction to prednisolone
Are there other options that don't involve
steroids
? Any help at all would be such a relief.
