Disappointed and worried
Hi, Finally, i had my appointment with a Rheumatologist consultant. I went through my history of pain, I was initially diagnosed with PMR in sept last year by G.P who started me on 15mg Prednisolone, and a miracle happened. I also explained that unfortunately, I have been unable to successfully reduce

Should I decrease my dose ?
I was diagnosed on Jan 6th this year with PMR. Started on 20mg and immediate relief. After 2 wks GP reduced to 15mg. Since mid Jan I have gone from 15 to 14 then 3 weeks ago I reduced to 13. My GP is good and not pushing any reductions. I have had no return of symptoms and know I will be on steroids

I’m now down to 15mg and my stomach is still swollen but cause seems to be Serositis. My pleural effusion are 200/300mls left side and zero right side with now minimal around pericardial so steroids are definitely working indicating cause is definitely autoimmune and possibly PMR . I still don’t feel

After ADT
Adrenal insufficiency after stopping ADT & steroids. My 72 year old husband had radical, robotic surgery 7 years ago. PSAs were 0 until 2 years ago, then barely detectable. Had the special PET scan, 3 spots lit up in lymph nodes, (in the area, none remote.) Had 6.5 weeks radiation therapy. Had 2 years

How cortisone/pred works - a new study reports on a potential target to replace steroids
I thought you'd be interested in this article about a study from Germany which has worked out how pred works - and knowing that is the basis for developing other drugs to replace it. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20240410/Study-unlocks-how-cortisone-activates-the-bodye28099s-natural-e2809cbrakese2809d-on-inflammation.aspx

Hi all - I have just been notified I can have the booster vaccination. Is there any issue with this and GCA or steroids?

hi, I received a diagnosis of bronchiectasis via a letter following a chest ct scan. I’d never heard of this condition before nor had it ever been discussed with me during an appointment. Despite me still being under the care of respiratory, I have been told it is roughly a 9month wait for an appointment

Not Eating
Hi Everyone, I've not been on here for a while but could do with some advice. My partner has been in hospital twice over the last 3 years with alcoholic hepatitis (the second time his liver was failing but the steroids seemed to work) and he was back to normal. Almost a year on from his last hospital

What worked for your BFP ?
Hi all I have had 4 failed transfers (3 fresh and 1 frozen) with the last two being donor eggs. I have been trying for a baby for 15 years and not once have I got pregnant. All immunology came back ok and hysteroscopy results were absolutely fine. Just no explanation for my infertility it’s just so

Has my PMR Gone?
Hello friends, I haven't posted for some time now partly because I've been feeling very depressed on account of my worsening health and my GP has prescribed Mirtazapine to be taken every night before bed. I've been on them for a few months now but can't say in all honesty that I am feeling any better

Stopping meds before operation. 😏
Hi Peeps, I hope this UK sunshine has reached you over the last few days and that you are as well as you can be today. I have been told to stop my meds because I have to have a lumpectomy on 8th May 🙄 I had to stop my Tocilizumab and Sulfasalazine 4 weeks before and my Metoject 2 weeks before. I also

Plasma Viscosity + Tapering
I’ve successfully tapered down from 15mg last June to 3mg now. I’ve been very lucky and had minimal problems getting down to 3mg. I had a routine blood test this week and my plasma viscosity has risen to just above normal (1.73). It was 1.66 back in December when I was on 6mg. CRP is normal and has
