Lipid clinic referral
Saw my cardiac nurse today she is concerned about my cholesterol as it's high at 7.2 she looked back over the last 5 years and it's never been this high before but it's also never been low despite taking
statins
. She is now arranging a referral to a lipid clinic.

Cholesterol concerns
I don't want to use
statins
unless neccessary but I'm also aware that 5.6 is probably quite high. Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post

Heart medication and common cold
Since then I am on the usual cocktail of anti-coagulants, beta blockers, blood pressure reducers and
statins
. There have been a few expected side effects (stomach upsets etc), but one unexpected one: it seems that I now get a cold every couple of months, instead of once a year as before.

Plant Sterols for managing cholesterol
My last cholesterol reading was slightly over 5, and I left GP surgery with a prescription for
Statins
(Atorvastin). I have read the possible side effects (and the packet has remained untouched!!) I really want to avoid them if i can...I love walking and don't want muscle pains in my legs!!

Life long statin
My cardiologist says I should remain on
statins
for life due to the anti inflammatory effects they have., to keep my CRP low . I’m currently taking Lipitor but I believe they maybe a far better statin to have , so my question is which one would it be . I’ve read Crestor might be ? Regards Stevo

Are My Numbers Horrible?
I was on
statins
9 years ago and they caused debilitating muscle pains. When I switched doctors, my new doctor ordered a nuclear stress test, cardiac calcium test, c-reactive protein & NMR LipoProfile.
