My LDL as never been high, but discovered that I needed a bypass . My cardiologist says I should remain on statins for life due to the anti inflammatory effects they have., to keep my CRP low . I’m currently taking Lipitor but I believe they maybe a far better statin to have , so my question is which one would it be . I’ve read Crestor might be ?

Satin is given as primary and secondary medication, primary is to control cholesterol before any issues. Secondary is to help with blood flow after any heart procedures. If the statin you are taking is not giving you any side effect the best is to stay with it. Satin side effect can give a lot of unwanted issues.
did you ask your cardiologist why? the station you were taking as primary medication to reduce cholesterol did not hep you, worth asking this question!
VitD is also anti-inflammatory - do you know your level ? I would also look into VitK2 as that directs calcium away from arteries and into bones and teeth. Statins block the K2 pathway as they do CoQ10 ... This is one of the reasons statins can cause atherosclerosis.
Most people are K2 deficient as cows are no longer grass fed - so we need to supplement. Kerrygold butter is from grass fed cows - mostly.
Welcome to our health forum. Nobody here is a doctor but we all share our anecdotal experiences and things we have learned. We cannot tell you whether Lipitor is better than Crestor. Personally, I had bypass surgery in 2015 and regret doing the procedure as it was a failure (other than the fact I survived). I required 2 angioplasty procedures afterward and ended up with 4 stents.
Are you asymptomatic? If no symptoms, then you should make drastic dietary and lifestyle change to begin your rehabilitation. I did that AFTER my procedures because the Crestor I was on caused severe muscle pain in my left shoulder to the point that I couldn't sleep.
You don't need statins for their anti-inflammatory effect. Sugar and simple carbohydrates (white flour products, white rice, white pasta, white potatoes, and processed foods) are all inflammatory, so if you stop consuming these things your inflammation will subside.
Furthermore, there are natural anti-inflammatory agents such as curcumin (derivative of the spice Turmeric), Ceylon cinnamon (comes from Sri Lanka), as well as ginger.
In addition, high doses of vitamin C allows the body to synthesize more collagen to deal with inflammatory damage which then results in the liver having to produce less LDL cholesterol.
I exercise daily now and am on the Mediterranean Diet. I go vegetarian every other day and when I do eat animal protein it is usually no more than 3 oz per day is usually wild caught salmon, trout, or arctic char, or organic, free-range chicken.
I stopped all of the medication I was on in October 2016 and most recently stopped the baby aspirin as well. I do however take supplements daily including Vitamins C,D and E. I also take Lysine, Proline, curcumin, and use a teaspoon of Ceylon Cinnamon in my breakfast tea daily. I am currently in the process of moderating my vitamin B regimen.
Arteries can also harden due to calcification of calcium. The body requires vitamin K2 and D3 to move calcium from the blood stream to your bones where it is required. Get those supplements and eat any one of - aged Gouda, Edam, Jarlesberg and Swiss Emmenthal cheese on a daily basis, all of which are high in vitamin K2.
