Hi. Saw my cardiac nurse today she is concerned about my cholesterol as it's high at 7.2 she looked back over the last 5 years and it's never been this high before but it's also never been low despite taking statins. She is now arranging a referral to a lipid clinic. Could any one advise what happens at your first appointment in a lipid clinic.
Thanks

Hi. I first saw the consultant in the lipid clinic in 2017. The consultant went through my history and checked my cholesterol and medication history. I had blood taken and she put the results in my letter to GP. She talked me through my treatment plan with options. I also saw a nutritionist at the same clinic. I now return annually and I get my blood tested in between at my GP surgery and 2 weeks before I attend my annual appointment I get my blood tested at the hospital so the results are waiting for the appointment. It has really helped me with my cholesterol as they have suggested medication combinations that others may not. Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions. Zena
