Hi. My cardiac nurse has recommended a drug called ezetimibe to take alongside my rosuvastatin. I was previously on 20 mg daily of rosuvastatin which has been increased to 40mg due to continued high cholesterol readings. Since the increase in rosuvastatin I am getting pain increased pain in my feet and tingling in my fingers. I had some of these feelings on the 20mg but not as bad as they are now. I have just started the ezetimibe and was wondering if anyone else has experience of this drug?
Thanks

Hi Dovaston, I'm just wondering how was your cholesterol reading after changing from statin to ezetimibe. Im thinking of stopping statins too due to body ache and heartburn effect
I was getting bad side effects when they tried to increase my statin and add ezetimibe. I have now been put on 20 mg rosuva daily and praluent injection every 2 weeks which seems to be working. Am due to go to lipid clinic at end of june.
I can not take any statins and have even seen two lipid specialists to help with this. The last one I saw took me off all statins and gave me Ezetimibe building it up slowly. This is not a typical Statin but can help in lowering cholesterol but without the dreadful side effects. It has worked very well for me.
I was referred to the hospital to try for alternative to statins that I can’t take. My doctor rang me three weeks ago to say the hospital won’t see me (understandably because of the virus) but recommended I try ezetemibe. My GP asked me if I’d try it for three months and I agreed. I have had a constant headache, diarrhoea, back and stomach pains, swollen painful fingers and feet and nightmares. I stopped taking the tablet two days ago and headache has finally gone. My fingers are reducing ( I can wear my wedding ring again) so I’m hopeful I’ll be back to normal in a couple of days.
Hi Maisie, how long did it take for side effects to start? I’ve been on Ezetimibe for just over 3 weeks and diarrhoea started, with no warning, yesterday. Also nausea, headache. How long once you stop did it take to resolve? I’m anxious because I’m steroid dependent, diarrhoea is life threatening for me because my body can’t keep the steroids in.
