Genetic testing - yes or no?

My worst chemo day so far -- major grump time
Sorry its a grump blog. Those ladies nervous about chemo may wish to not read on. Its not nasty I promise-- just a great example of how things don't always go to plan which has happened today in spades. This is now officially my worst chemo day ever. I thought last week was bad with 8 attempts to

Dear Ladies, Starting third line treatment with weekly Taxol on Wednesday - only off treatment since July. Interested in hearing from anyone with positive experience of alternative treatments. Another Day
The advantage of blogging, you can have a moan or a fret and then close the door on it, or when you are feeling good put it on paper and smile. Today is a rant day, there seems to be so many of them lately, following the pelvic infection and two courses of antibiotics and the boil in the wound infection

List Writing
I'm just writing my list of things to ask the consultant on the 4th, not exactly a Christmas list, one of the things I'm wondering is would just having carboplatin without the taxol be good enough, and my concerns about early onset dementia due to the lack of oestrogen, I've got dry skin my hair feels

My Journey, as promised!
Dear All! I promised an account of my journey so far to help, if I can, others to put this awful condition in perspective so here goes! In 2009 I was approaching my 69th birthday and enjoying life working 3 days a week for CAB. I was running an outreach centre twoo days a week and overseeing the

CT scan shows reduction of main tumour but lymph node is growing again
Hello everybody, am writing to have some reassurance, if possible... I'm on my 4th round of chemo, weekly dose-dense taxol and carbo, for a 5 cm recurrence on the side of my colon and a swollen lymph node next to my collarbone. I started the chemo in September, and the swelling in the lymph node almost

gemcitabine with carboplatin for Platinum resistant
Hello, has anybody had experience of using gemcitabine with carboplatin for Platinum resistant recurrent cancer? I am now on my forth round of chemo, after having had taxol-carbo as front line treatment, followed by 6 months of remission (with bulking in between); followed by more taxol-carbo, that didn't

Here I go again on the chemo slide downhill to Christmas
Dear all I've been lurking around mostly so far, reason being that i was on my operation "holiday from chemo" (after full hysto etc. to remove my stage 3c) and felt almost normal for a few weeks, after the initial op pain went. My brain came back and I could enjoy doing some work from home! I have

Update as promised
Hello All, here is an update on my progress as promised. Had portacath fitted last wednesday, unfortunately the sedative or something disagreed with me and left me feeling ill for 2 days. Baseline CT scan done on Monday and then 1st of 6 chemotherapy sessions yesterday, avestin, taxol & carboplatin.

Had to cancel my 'Look Good Feel Better' session today.
After waiting weeks for my Look good Feel Better session I wasn't able to go. Had my last chemo on Friday and felt sure I'd make it. The taxol was omitted due to pins and needles to hands and feet so felt sure I'd be fine with only having carboplatin!!!! How optimistic was that? Have rearranged for

Just a little moan!
Not really a moan. Diagnosed August 2010. Had chemo surgery chemo, remission for 13months, began Carboplatin in Feb this year, 2nd round had a bad reaction so couldn't have it. (My scan had come back with enlarged lymph nodes in upper abdo). So we decided to wait and see as my CA125s had halved. May

Scan waiting times
Hello all, I saw my chemo Dr for my first follow up (after six chemo and debulking) last week and unfortunately it's back ( ca125 of 180) So no remission for me, I was stage 3, don't know what I am now. Except scared. She said she would arrange a CT scan very urgently and then probably start me on

Professor Hani Gabra's Presentation - Professor of Medical Oncology - Imperial College - 25 September 2012
I attended a lecture by Professor Hani Gabra at the Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre in East Acton. I took notes for Gill (Midwife Gill) who wasn't able to attend but thought it would be helpful to put a résumé of the notes I took as I felt his message was full of hope. Professor Gabra's

Dilemma!!
Hi everyone I have been having weekly Taxol for my 2nd re occurence and I am thrilled to tell you my marker is at an all time low of just 10. I have had 8 sessions and at our last meeting with the Oncologist he said I could stop treatment now if I wished. As I was so unsure what to do I said I would
