speech therapist questions
my mum will be visiting a speech therapist tomorrow, what are the areas you suggest the speech therapist should focus on? What questions do you think will be helpful?

Another day
He's the same as he was, but his results aren't as good as we hoped. His swallow isn't as strong as it should be and ENT and speech therapist tried him with cuff down on the tracheotomy and holding over the opening, but he could only breathe in but not out. So they're going to arrange to put a smaller

She doesn’t act that way with me…
I don’t take her to occupational
therapy
,
speech
therapy
, behavioral therapy, and a developmental pediatrician for fun!! How do you keep from doubting yourself, when everyone around you treats you like your overreacting or making stuff up?

just need to know I’m not alone
When I was released from the hospital I had to have physical, occupational, and
speech
,
therapy
. Also my mom was in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation centers and we found out she had cancer. After 3 attempts of scheduling the surgery and her backing out, she finally had the surgery.

Speech production technology
Has anyone tried speech production technology, such as Stephen Hawking used, for PSP patients? Was it successful or not? Our speech therapist is asking us to consider it since we cannot understand my husband any more. Thanks

apathy
hi This is my first post, my husband 79 was diagnosed with PSP 18 months ago. My biggest frustration and upset is his apathy and lack of communication. We can have good and bad days and at hospital appointments he has proved he is able to communicate. It is just heartbreaking that he has no will or

Update on me
Before I go to visit Ralph this morning, thought I'd write a bit about me. I rang this morning to see how his first night was, he'd vomited a little which she said was due to the stress of the move, but then he was fine and slept well. Last night was the first decent sleep I've had since his operation

What a difference
Been a good day for him so far. He said he had a rough night coughing. He was in his chair dressed when I got there. Physio told him off and said you don't need the hoist now, use the pulley to get up and in the chair.Physio and speech therapist came to put tiny camera up his nose to look down his throat

Med Trials - Tell me Your Experiences
He goes to a private therapeutic school through his IEP where he gets OT, play
therapy
,
speech
etc. The school is extremely accommodating but he still struggles big time. We work with a child psych for meds and did genesight but genesight really hasn’t been helpful.

Me again
Hi, here again. He's doing really well. He's out in the chair each day, still hoisted but he was trying to stand and they had to tell him no you're not strong enough yet. Monday he was in the chair when I got there and they didn't put him back to bed until I left. He was getting tired towards the end

Parkinson's Nurse update
Hi all, thank you for all your previous posts, they were most helpful. Since then we have had a few medical professionals visit. The Parkinsons Nurse is coming to see my father-in-law tomorrow. Is there any questions we need to be asking? The OT and Physio visited yesterday and recommended a new commode

Speech therapy advice
The speech and language therapist doesn’t expect his
speech
will improve much more. It seems the
speech
therapy
hasn’t helped it improve further as its actually no better than it was before he went to rehab.

Virtual Reality Therapy Anyone?
The benefits for cognitive, physical and
speech
therapy
sound solid. There are specific programs to suit your needs. Mental too, with actual human interaction. Started contacting companies. The main one, that insurance covers, sent me a nice reply stating it is for certain veterans only.
