He's the same as he was, but his results aren't as good as we hoped. His swallow isn't as strong as it should be and ENT and speech therapist tried him with cuff down on the tracheotomy and holding over the opening, but he could only breathe in but not out. So they're going to arrange to put a smaller tube in soon. He's supposed to be having a RIG in his tummy to feed him but so far they've not got a date, and he's been off his blood thinners 8 days now. Only supposed to be off 5 days before he has it done, he has to be on them for life. Hoping to speak to someone today, nurses haven't been told anything.

Another day
Hi Sue. I so appreciate you taking the time to give updates on Ralph. You are both in my thoughts and prayers ❤️
Thanks for the update Sue, it must be disappointing for you both to not make as much progress as you'd hoped, but being positive he hasn't regressed. Be assertive about his feeding plans, keep nagging and stress the blood thinners importance. Here in Suffolk we've had some welcome warmth and sunshine. I hope that you're having similar. Now my own health problems are improving I'm hoping to visit my daughter in The Peaks once I've seen the vascular consultant in 2 weeks. I haven't seen her since Xmas.
Sending big hugs today, at the beginning of a new week Hopefully you’ll have better news when you visit today - a smaller tube is a small step in the right direction 😘
It is, but goodness knows when it will get done. The RIG is more important atm so he can get back on the blood thinners
oh he has had some bad luck. Difficult for both of you to stay positive but it will come right in the end. Take care xx
Hi Sue Im sorry things arnt moving forward as quick as we would like . It must be very stressful and disappointing that they havent done the RIG yet. its good that he has you there to try and push them on with it once he has it im sure it will help and will be a relief to get him back on the blood thinners. I hope there will be some good news for you today xxx
Must be frustrating that things are moving so slowly, but hopefully some progress will be made over the next few days. Hang on in there! May will bring some warmer weather at least!
Keep pestering about the blood thinners. Sounds as if someone forgot or didn't realise how long it was taking. Tiny steps. Can you be present when the doctors come round to pinthem down about the blood thinners?
Oh Sue my heart breaks for you both but never give up. Hope you get to learn more of his plan today and don’t forget you can always arrange a meeting for whoever is overseeing his care. Thinking of you Ralph your luck must be due a change soon xx
Thanks for the update. I hope you have some progress this week x
Hopefully just a small bump in the road. Remember Ralph has overcome worse and he will overcome this too.Hugs & prayers for continued strength for both of you.
Missed this update, hope all is progressing well. xx
