We had to put her in speech therapy. What I later t learned on my own was that although she’s 13 YOA, psychologically and emotionally she’s 8-9 YOA.

If this becomes a real problem we’re generally referred to a Speech Therapist..and there is also the option of joining AtaxiaUKs link to Speech Therapy. Something else I’ve seen recommended..is learning another language.

For 2 weeks she's been seeing the neuro psych, ot, speech therapy. Her memory is not too bad, she can walk thankfully and communicate. Most of her issues are behavioural. She lacks empathy, doesn't care about anything, is possibly grieving as we all are the loss of her usual self.

There will be a referral to Speech Therapy and my surgeon has arranged for me to see an ENT Consultant on Tuesday who may be able to do a new procedure whereby the vocal chord is injected to support it, obviously I need to find out more about it but suffice to say my lovely surgeon is doing everything

my poor mum has reached the stage where conversation is nigh on impossible….. yet she knows exactly what she wants to say!!! Hi All This is just an update on how my 8-year-old boy is doing after his Hemorrhagic stroke. We're slowly making progress with his motor skills, most of the time he crawls about the house but with help from me walking a little. his appetite has improved a lot so very happy on that side of things.

I have had a lot of support from the health professionals , consultant, physio, speech therapy and dietitian. Palliative Care team have also been in touch. He has good friends who visit him so even if his communication skills are compromised he can see they are here for him.
