Before I go to visit Ralph this morning, thought I'd write a bit about me.
I rang this morning to see how his first night was, he'd vomited a little which she said was due to the stress of the move, but then he was fine and slept well.
Last night was the first decent sleep I've had since his operation, and I even dreamt he was home. I'd got up first and he came downstairs and was so proud of himself as he said, "I've made the bed". I woke up feeling really happy. I think I'm relaxing because he's nearer to home and the staff I've met so far are very optimistic. The staff at Sheffield were brilliant with the heart stuff, but seemed to not know what to do with him afterwards. Whereas this ward is for all conditions and all they're interested in is getting him well.
They asked did we live in a house or bungalow, walk in shower or over the bath, so they know how much and what kind of physio to give him. They said I'm welcome to be there while he has physio as long as it's okay with Ralph. They're keeping me posted on everything, which wasn't always the case in Sheffield. They never told me on Friday they were taking out the tracheotomy, because I would have asked them to wait until Mon like the physio and speech therapist wanted. They might not have listened to me, but I would have known and had some input.
So, to recap, I'm happier and more relaxed, has to be good, right?
That is so positive…. Your health is just as important in fact more so at this moment.. This will be the boost that you both need.. Keep your chin up.🌟.
If things feel right to you then it is right. The more time you can spend with him now will bring his morale up and aid in a quicker recovery but always be ready for little set backs until he is up and walking x. Good luck and much love to you and Ralph x
I’m pleased that you are feeling brighter. The medical staff will look after hubby. You need to look after you because he will need you to be happy and healthy. Sending love xx
Look at the positive knock-on effects Ralph's move has had on you. You are more relaxed, slept better, feel better and have more optimism about his care and ongoing progress. Lovely to hear it in your post and hopefully all steps will now be forward and towards Ralph's homecoming. Great news 😊
What a nice dream to have and must of been so nice to wake up in such a positive mood after everything that has been going on Having staff that are involving you in his plan and keeping you informed is so much better taking away some of the fear of the unknown . I hope your day continues on the positive path today xx
Really glad they are looking towards rehab and maybe weekend or day leave when he is well enough. That's what I'd have done as a physio - can he visit the loo when at home for 6 hrs, sort of thing!
Morning Sue Glad you are feeling a bit better in yourself after a good night's sleep and that wonderful so pleased they ate committed to getting him fit and including you in the plan
That’s great news that he’s closer for you & brilliant you slept so well! I hope everything will improve for both of you from now, let’s hope you get him home soon 🤗💐
haven’t been on here for ages- it’s so good to hear that you & your husband are making progress on the road to recovery It will be so much easier with him nearer to home - small steps but in the right direction.
That's wonderful news. The strain on you has been immense. Time now to really look after yourself. Maybe have a talk to your own GP and see if there's any way they can support you and maybe a medical check up. You must be exhausted both mentally and physically.
So glad to see this update and to hear you feel happier in yourself about things with Ralph. Hopefully with little improvements they will start working more on his physio to start helping him get some strength back and that in itself will make him start to feel better. Poor man has been through so much but I'm sure with your dedication and love as well he will know that he has lots pull through for. Take care ....keep making sure you are ok too and keep us updated if you are able. Xx
