Sotalol and follow up to my previous post
I have been on Sotalol 80mg, one table twice daily for a week now since my kidney robotics surgery and am not happy with the side effects I am getting. I am woken up in the early hours with a cold sweat and look as though I have been drenched with water. Also about an hour after taking my first table

Rhythm control drugs after ablation
I am going to see an EP and I am looking here not for advice, more to tap into other people's experience. So, one ablation for vagal PAF. Worked well until recently, now intermittent atrial flutter, despite increasing dose of Sotalol (which I have taken for 6 years) Flecainide PIP was the first rhythm

Not what I expected !
I've just had a 5 day loop ECG - the cardiac nurse e.mailed to say it showed episodes of persistent AF ! I had a Cryoablation in Feb this year. The consultant wants me to change from Bisoporol 1.25 mg ( been on this for 4 weeks ) to Sotalol ( don't know the dose as waiting for phone call from cardiology

Heart problems after major surgery
I had robotic pyeloplasty surgery last Thursday for a PUJ blockage of my left kidney. They programmed my pacemaker before surgery into a ‘safe mode’ and then back to my personal settings afterwards. Felt awful after surgery but expected this. However on Saturday went into a very fast heart rate which

Skipping Beats
So my Afib seems to be under control under my current medication which is Sotalol. But what seems to be happening lately is my heart will skip beats. Happens for hours and then stops on its own. Totally normal rate at around 70bpm but skips beats occasionally. Doesn’t really stop me from doing anything

Help needed (SVT, bradycardia, arrhythmia generally)
Hi, I’m 33 years old and in a bit of a quandary. At 26 I had an episode of SVT completely out of the blue (240bpm), no prior heart issues or symptoms, and did the fun old adenosine jaunt in A&E. I was kept in for 8 days, put on sotalol, but my hr would still jump massively in the immediate aftermath

Running out of meds to try
Another new medication, another set of side effects. I've now been on Metoprolol (4 x 25mg) for six weeks and it's great for weight loss (which is a bit scary). At first it wasn't too bad and I could have a sort of life, but not anymore. Nausea, fatigue, congestion etc. and it doesn't consistently

Fast uncontrolled A/fib and A/flutter
Hi I’m new here. Twenty five year history of arrhythmias. Initially medication as and when. Then regular medication of sotalol twice daily. Eventually doing rates up to 270bpm. Four catheter ablations. First one they did a pulmonary vein isolation and isthmus line, resulting in atrial flutter. The second

Sotalol 40 mg Update
Hi Everyone, went to the Chemist's for my monthly prescription, expecting there to be no Sotalol and, once again, having to start telephoning around Hull to source a supply, when "hey-diddle diddle", I was informed that the Pharmacist has got a year's stock for me! What an Angel. It will be chocolate

Weening off Sotalol
I have decided to ween myself off Sotalol I take 360mg per day, I have a pacemaker inserted. I have been taking this beta blocker for the past seven years in different doses. I spoke to my GP and asked if I could try a pill in the pocket, which he has agreed for me to try. It will take me three weeks

Stopping sotalol after ablation
Hello. Gord here. I am post cryo-ablation done July 2017. Seems to be successful so far after Holter monitor and EKG tests. My EP reduced my dose of sotalol from 80 mg 2x per day, to 40mg 2x per day and told me to stop at end of Oct. to see if the ablation continues to work when not on any meds. Pharmacy

Confused
I had a few episodes of PAF about 14 years ago, it was controlled well by sotalol for several years. I eventually weaned myself off them a few years later and had no further problems until about a month ago when it restarted with a vengeance totally out of the blue! I went to Emergencies, told to take

Sotalol - Confused!
Hi Everyone, I won't bore you with my medical past, but I'm due to have a cardioversion in a couple of weeks time for persistent AF following my ablation. The consultant has mentioned changing my medication from Bisoprolol to Sotalol to help make the cardioversion stick. What has confused me is that

Side effects of Sotalol
I have been on Sotalol 120mg twice a day for almost a month now. Has anyone else had diarrhea from taking this medication? And did it resolve itself? I haven't read of anyone else with this particular side effect. It started a couple of days after my first dose. Before that I was on rate meds. with

Post-ablation catch-up
Hi I thought it might be helpful to update my post-ablation experience. Two weeks after ablation at Barts (on June 30) my AF returned (120 bpm). My GP doubled my dose of Sotalol to 160 mg a day. Later my EP tripled it to 240 mg. My cardiac nurse added a small dose of Digoxin. All this has had little
