Just had my follow up appointment for the ablation procedure i had in April, nearly six months now should of been earlier but had to cancel initial appointment as was on holiday.I have been AF free since the ablation so consultant said to reduce dosage of sotalol over the next six weeks then stop altogether if still AF free then can come off warfarin. So fingers crossed hoping to be off all meds in a couple of months.Good luck to all fellow sufferers especially those who are very nervous about having ablation procedure as i know i was in fact i was terrified.Everybody is different i know but all i can say is at this point in time i am glad that i had the ablation done.Best wishes ,good health

Well I hope it works for you Andy.
Sotolol is not a good drug to be on and is no longer recommended for Lone AF by NICE and I am really surprised recommending coming off Wafarin? I would check that as most EPs do like you to continue for at least 12 months post ablation and many people prefer to stay anti-coagulated for life.
There are some studies that showed coming off Anti-Coagulation after 12 months of proven no AF did not increase the risk of stroke but this is not Good Standard.
I was told to stop my rivaroxaban 3 month post ablation Check up, until I reminded the EP that I'd had a mild stroke last year, he quickly flicked through my notes, found the relevant paperwork said he didn't know that and then said I'd need to be on them for the rest of my life!
Thanks for the reply,i had heard that about sotalol but ive been on it for a few years now, will be glad if can finally come off it.Strange how some doc's still use it while others have moved onto other drugs.Regards the warfarin i have a CHADS score of zero and no other complications so i guess it just comes down to risk versus benefit.Everybody and every case is different i suppose so will just have to trust in the docs decision
