POST STROKE AF
I am new to this site and find it very informative and reassuring I started getting a rapid heartbeat about 5/6 years ago. This began when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Eventually I was referred to a cardiologist. An ECG revealed nothing. I then had a 24hour/7 day monitor. This revealed paroxysmal

Sotalol - resting heart rate rising over time normal?
Hi all, I was prescribed Sotalol in May, after I was diagnosed with AF It made me feel quite tired to start off with (first 4 weeks) but now (July), I am feeling more 'back to normal'. I wear a Fitbit type monitor, that monitors my heart rate. What I have noticed is that initially when I started taking

Part of a New Research Study
I had my third ablation on 6th July and a few days before I was asked if I would be part of a new research study for an oesophageal-pacing catheter. A wire is passed via the nose to the oesophagus and positioned behind the left atrium. They then see if they can pace the heart (speed the rate up) with

Side effects of flecinate, propafenone, amiodarone and sotalol
Hi everyone, I am on 150 mg of flecinate for sinus ventricular tachicardia, it gives me intense dreams, so want to try something else, like propfenone,or amiodarone or another drug that works better. I also wake up twice a night with tachicardia, I do not now if it is from the intense dreams or my heart

Hello all Firstly I think I may have posted this twice as I lost it once and could not find what I had done with it. If so I must apologise. I am new to this forum but decided to join after first finding it only last week and then reading many posts that encompass so many things that I am so familiar

After being diagnosed early in 2015 and having two episodes I had my sotalol increased to 240mg a day and took my rivaroxaban and was good til January 27th when I was off to emergency again. Reverted quickly with Iv magnesium and taking my morning dose of sotalol early. Just had another episode six weeks

What to do about working
Hi all, my AF journey is a 10 year one, to date. I've had 2 ablations, one for AF and the 2nd for AF and flutter. Numerous cardioversions, over night stays in hospital with heart failure several times. Since February of 2015 I've been back on Sotalol. Initial dose was 240 a day, dropped to 160. (80 twice

Well - a few weeks back I had a Hter monitor for 7 days because I had voiced cover s about how my heart was beating - it seems to have settee down and it appears I am in NSR most of the time sometime dipping into AF. So now having spoken to my EP and him emailing me I need to think about my next course

Vagal AF
I thought I would start a new thread since sometimes I miss info in older threads, and others will do the same, especially if they have not posted anything on the older thread. I saw the following in a 2007 study and found it helpful. If this information is true, it is hard to understand why an EP

Am I really an 'enigma'?
Hello everyone, I am a 45 y/o male with managed Hpyertension , but otherwise healthy. I was diagnosed with AF back in September 2014. I underwent cardioversion which last for 3 days. After this I was told that my AF was permanent. I had catheter ablation in November 2014 but was told I would probably

Most vagal afibbers receive wrong medication
Bagrat commented on one of my posts I made a year ago and this reminded me of the following study which was done some time ago but may still be relevant. Many new people on the forum may not be aware of the concept presented. Most vagal afibbers receive wrong medication MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS

Advice for newbie please
I've just been diagnosed with paroxysmal AF and, with a very supportive GP, I'm starting on the road to find a treatment that suits me best. I've read a lot but would love some tips on questions I should really be asking. In hindsight I had probably had infrequent episodes of AF that just left me feeling

Post atrial flutter ablation & sotalol
After my ablation for A flutter 26th October 2015 I was taken off my 2.5 of bisoporal and put onto sotalol (80mg X 2). I noticed the difference straight away - not happy with heart beats / missed/ pauses / dips - a bit like the sensation ( ladies) you have in pregnancy before the real noticeable movements
