Thyroid, anemia, cortisol and fake menopause - iron IV on Monday
Hey everyone,I have been struggling recently with a lot of symptoms, mainly crushing fatigue to the point of dizziness and blurry vision. After years of trying different meds, it is now clear I don't tolerate meds because of other factors. I clearly need higher dose of thyroid meds, but they don't work

What vitamin supplements to take alongside B12 injections?
Hi all - I'm currently on monthly injections for PA but still feel tired every morning even after a good nights sleep; low energy days; trouble focusing etc - sure you'll all be familiar with the symptoms! I've had several further blood tests and vitamin D and iron deficiencies have been identified

Ongoing anemia
Hello, I am thinking if my wife has ongoing anemia due to a bleed the Drs can't or won't find. Why wait for four months to give her red blood cells when she last had RBC transfusion 4 months ago it brought her Hgb up to 115, then three months ago had iron infusion. Which didn't really increase her Hgb

Thalassemia: Lessons in Perseverance and Compassion
As I reflect on my life with transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia (thal), it is easy to become overwhelmed. In short, thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder where the body is unable to produce hemoglobin, which causes severe anemia and endless complications. In 1973, when I was diagnosed at 14

Cortisol levels
Hello everyone, I have recently finally come off pramipexole after 6 months weaning off and I appear to be one of the lucky ones that the iron oral therapy has significantly helped my restless legs. However, I am still not sleeping well and have dipped into the hormonal debateā¦ I think I have high cortisol

Low ferritin again
Unsurprisingly my ferritin has fallen back to the very bottom of the range yet again after i ceased iron supplements back in march. Raised a call with the surgery this morning and within 6 minutes of raising the call online it had been closed by the enhanced care practitioner as saying no action required

Hey everyone, I had some great advice on here a couple of weeks ago. I just had a full blood test completed (given the RLS had gotten significantly worse recently) and my iron results came back low: Iron 14.3 umol/L (Range: 10 - 30) TIBC 54.2 umol/L (Range: 45 - 81) UIBC 39.9 umol/L (Range: 12 -

Diagnosis at last! Haemochromotosis?
I've posted a few times on this forum but a bit of backstory - hubby, 43 had sudden onset of upper right quadrant pain last December, has some tests for gallstones, found nothing, immediately stopped drinking (had drunk heavily for around 15 years), and after a lot of back and forward was found to have

hi thyroid community. Quick questionā¦Iāve noticed since Iāve been taking Erfa that my pulse races quite often sometimes over 100. Especially when Iām climbing up hill or going up stairs for example. Iāve realised Iāve had this for quite a while (years) and had put it down to being breathless due to

Trying 3 Arrows Iron - UK Test Guide?
Hi I have been struggling to get my ferritin out of the long grass for years. I can force it up a bit now and then but I've never been optimal and often I'm well below optimal. I have come across the excellent SlowDragon posts on 3 Arrows and I'm going to give it a try, for various reasons. But on

Iron Deficiency and Iron Deficiency Anemia: Potential Risk Factors in Bone Loss
Members are likely all too familiar with patients being told that they are suffering osteopenia or osteoporosis due to having too much thyroid hormone. And, especially, too much T3. While it is important to realise that there is a case to be made regarding excess thyroid hormone, it is just as important

Confirming blood tests needed to diagnose hyperthyroid (asking for my sister-in-law)
My sister-in-law told me that she recently was having trouble with excessive sweating... like, have to go home and change a drenched shirt kind of sweating. So as she said it in her words - She went to the general practitioner doctor, they did blood tests, and the numbers were low and so he's referring
