looking at your thyroid results I’d say they are perfect. How are you feeling? Do you have symptoms?

Your ferritin is on the low side. Have you any b12, D or folate results to share.

Hi if you have a look on the link slow dragon posted of my previous post my vitamin d. B12 and folate is on there. For some reason those tests wasn't included in my blood work the other day. My previous thyroid results were a bit fluctuating compared to this time so I was going to get thyroid antibodys tested. I still haven't been feeling optimal really. Get fatigued quick after exercise. Hair is dry and starting to fall out a bit . Weak spitting nails. Trying to raise my ferritin

Ferritin needs lot of work

suzybear in reply toSlowDragon

Yes definitely need to raise ferritin. I forgot to add serum cortisol blood test results. It wasn't done until almost 10am so not sure if it would make a lot of difference if done earlier ?

Serum cortisol 737 nmol/L

No action required.

Also mean corpusc. haemoglobin (mch) looks a bit low ? 28.5 Pg. ( 27.0-33.0)

Cortisol looks high

Very common to have high cortisol when not on enough replacement thyroid hormones

Adrenals try to compensate for low thyroid levels with cortisol

suzybear in reply toSlowDragon

Not sure why it's come up as no action required on my cortisol result. I thought the same the numbers look a bit high. I will be having my GP appointment soon to chat about my results so I will ask again about raising my levothyroxine but she didn't agree to doing this last time. I wanted to add I have just gone post menopausal 13 months without a period so not sure if anything like this effects cortisol / thyroid etc also ?

yes iron and ferritin low

Aiming for ferritin at least over 70

What vitamin supplements are you taking

suzybear in reply toSlowDragon

Ferrous fumerate 210 mg but I don't really like taking it I get constipated and bloated and sorry for the description but my stool looks a bit dark. Trying to eat cashew nuts. Dried apricots. Pumpkin seeds as I heard this helps iron. I was using better you iron spray from Holland and Barrett but when I had bloods done before it hadn't made a difference. Biocare nutrisorb methyl b complex

Viridian liquid b12

Byglycinate magnesium

Updated reference ranges for top of ferritin range depending upon age

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thank you for your incredible patience while you have been awaiting the outcome of our ferritin reference range review. We conducted this with Inuvi lab, which has now changed the reference ranges to the following:

Females 18 ≤ age < 40. 30 to 180

Females 40 ≤ age < 50. 30 to 207

Females 50 ≤ age < 60. 30 to 264l

Females Age ≥ 60. 30 to 332

Males 18 ≤ age < 40 30 to 442

Males Age ≥ 40 30 to 518

The lower limits of 30 are by the NICE threshold of <30 for iron deficiency. Our review of Medichecks data has determined the upper limits. This retrospective study used a large dataset of blood test results from 25,425 healthy participants aged 18 to 97 over seven years. This is the most extensive study on ferritin reference ranges, and we hope to achieve journal publication so that these ranges can be applied more widely.

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your information. I have actually ordered the three arrows iron supplement so just waiting for that to come in the post. So hoping that will be the best choice to get ferritin levels up. I spoke to my GP about my blood test results she doesn't seem to think there's a problem now with my ferritin but there clearly is. She said it's the iron levels that counts and that looks fine to her 🙈. Doesn't seem to think there's any problem with cortisol either. Asked about raising my levothyroxine and she won't do that even tho I suggested taking 100mg and 75mg alternative days. Just said I wouldn't want to raise it to high as it could be too much. I've got her to book me in for other blood tests as she missed out b12. Folate. Vitamin d. Cholesterol on the list last time. I've also asked for tpo antibodys test. I've asked tests for progesterone. Oestrogen. Prolactin and shgb as Im post menopause and want to see how this is effecting me also

Ok thanks. Yes tests were all done between 8.30 and 10 am. Last dose of levo always 24 hours before. Hi slowdragon sorry Ive got a bit confused. I know you said my ft3 seems higher than ft4 and said it sounds like hashis. Not sure I seen the comment if just taking levo. Do you mean I would get these readings if I was taking something else ?

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply tosuzybear

Normally on just Levothyroxine you would see Ft4 higher than Ft3 or both at similar levels

Levothyroxine is Ft4
