Bizarre Thyroid Quote from 1941
We regularly despair at science and medicine seemingly missing so much about thyroid physiology and processes. However, every so often, we see something so extraordinarily odd and bizarre, we actually seem to have made huge progress. This starts fairly sensibly. Then goes downhill. Fast. And remember

Vitimins/supplements to help an under active thyroid
has anyone got any help for me. Since my radio iodine treatment, I’m flat and slow. even an alternative to Levothyroxine would be good. Thank you!

I wonder if my thyroid was going wrong for decades before I became hyperthyroid?
I went hyperthyroid about 19 years ago. My explanation for it has been that it came soon after the birth of my beautiful son (amazing but stressful of course) and then the sudden death of my father a year or so later. I was just rambling on an ADHD forum (DX in 2022 now titrating) and the question occurred

From darkness into light and almost all the way back again
I went mad in 2016. Nothing was too crazy for me. I even considered driving off a cliff. The madness was accompanied by paranoia and doubt which got very dark indeed. After several, desperate visits to my GP (who tried in vain to help) a visiting locum took one look at me and having familiarised himself

My daughter has a swelling on her neck, can someone advise?
My daughter has been on a school trip away from home. The teachers posted pics for the parents to see and my eyes were instantly drawn to the swelling on her neck. Obviously I'm concerned this is her thyroid. After 4 days the swelling has gone down, however I can still feel it slightly. We're booked

Hi Ive found the posts here absolutely fantastic to get context, recently i started coming back to this page because i had to have a thyroidectomy due to long long term Graves and Thyroid cancer. What i was seeking was to find out if i would feel better but struggled to really find any strong positive

GP’s and meds (Losartan and Lercanadipine) !!
I despair! the surgery advised me on Monday that they thought the Losartan was causing a decrease in my sodium level (127). They suggested I try Lercanadipine instead. I took the first one this morning and my pulse rate went mad all morning and my BP dropped quite a bit. I contacted the surgery &

Kidneys affected by Hydroxyurea?
Was admitted to hospital last week due to severely low sodium levels and creatinine levels were way off normal. Admitting diagnosis was acute kidney failure. Nephrologists were not sure what was causing the change in my kidney’s health. They wondered if the Hydroxyurea could be playing a part

Encouraged but a little confused about UKELD
Apologies for the long post but I just had a reply to my queries about recent blood tests because I didn't have all the test numbers in my consultant letter to my GP in order to calculate MELD / UKELD. He wrote this which I was mostly encouraged by but also a little puzzled - how is EVERYONE 49 on UKELD

blood pressure meds and low sodium
back on here again following my last blood results to see how the Losartan (for BP) is affecting me - or not. (I’ve been on it since the last week in January) I feel quite happy & well being on this low dosage of 25mg and my BP is now in the normal range. However: isn’t there always a “However

I am new
I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 12 and am now 59. I have two daughters with fetal valproate spectrum disorder. I have coped fine with epilepsy, I was young enough for me to learn to walk in step with it. My mum always stressed about it, as when I was diagnosed, the Doctor told her that he had hoped

Iodine treatment?
Hello, due to see my consultant this afternoon after me not reacting well to the medication they were treating me for over active thyroid. It was lowering my white blood cells, has given me Antithyroid Arthritis so don’t want to go back on. I am going to ask him about iodine treatment and just wondered

Is it necessary to start treatment with L-thyroxin 50 μg ?
Hi, I'm new to this community and hope to get some advice. While looking into fertility treatment last Sept. I was told that I had elevated TPO antibodies 23.5 IU/ml (normal: <5.6) but TSH was normal at 1.87mIU/l (normal:0.27-4.20). Then I fell pregnant naurally in January and got my doctor to check

Looking for T2 & Thyroid granulars to supplement my meds.
Been watching Dr Westin Childs on YouTube for a couple of years now and I think he is great, from what I have learned since being in here and watching him has helped me a lot!! Now he recommends a combination of medications as to get a ‘full range’ of Thyroid ‘Goodness’ for the want of another term …

Topical peppermint oil for pain management?
Hey, everyone, I'm new here I'm looking for more over the counter options especially low cost. I spend far more than I would like to admit on managing my IBS. I have only heard of Peppermint oil capsules but has anyone tried applying it topically to their abdomen? I'm not sure it would be effective

Any tips on what I can do?
if I have one or two beers or if I have 10+, the next morning I will tend to go to the toilet with Diarrhoea 3-4 times fairly close to each other in times, and after this I would take Imodium so that I can get on with my day without having to worry about where the closest toilets are or if I’ll even
