In a panic! Has anyone heard of these?
After a few years of heavy bleeds, now under control with the pill, this past few weeks I had symptoms of stabbing pain (nearly fainted twice) in my pelvis and a very achy back I went for a private scan. NHS so busy atm and I was torturing myself. So the sonographer report states 2 possible causes. Degenerating

First Stem Cell Transplant Appointment done
Thanks to everyone who replied to my first post on this. My husband and I stayed over in Southampton and we got home today. To my great relief, the consultant was extremely approachable and excellent at explaining things. I didn't ask all of my questions as these initial discussions are being done over

Lung Transplant: “Dry Run”
Hi, Of the people who have had or are listed for a lung transplant, can you tell me how you coped with “dry runs” ( not sure what else to call them) I got called to Harefield, 2 days ago, as they potentially had suitable lungs for me. I had all the bloods, swabs, was prepped for theatre etc. Then it

Is weight loss possible post transplant while on immunosuppressants?
I am almost 4 months post kidney transplant and I have gained over 15 kg. I have been exercising consistently and eating healthy for over 6 weeks now but my weight won’t budge at all. I have read that immunosuppressants can really mess with one’s metabolism and fat burning, and being 49 and likely

Study shows low or undetectable immune response to double COVID-19 vaccination in patients with impaired immune systems
The first data from the ongoing OCTAVE (Observational Cohort Trial-T-cells Antibodies and Vaccine Efficacy in SARS-CoV-2) study show that a significant proportion of clinically at-risk patients with certain immunocompromised or immunosuppressed conditions mount a low or undetectable immune response after

First Appointment re Stem Cell Transplant
This week I have my first appointment with a stem cell transplant specialist. I haven't made up my mind yet and I'm seeing this as a fact finding appointment. I've made a list of questions to ask: What exactly does it involve, step by step? What can go wrong? And if something goes wrong, what is the

Cancer, My Story
Hi, a 20 year survivor of colon cancer. 15 cms of large intestine resection to small. Would I like to have had the colostomy? I sure would have. Those I know who have had colon cancer do have a better life style than I. Travel, dining out, and social activities are very difficult as I must eat at least

Cancer 'power failure' stops the spread of tumor cells
Sirturo, targeted the fuel supply of cancer cells and blocked metastasis by nearly 85%. The drug had no effects on normal cells, thereby minimizing side-effects. It found that treatment with Sirturo caused a 'power failure," but only in cancer cells. Sirturo is already FDA-approved, with these findings
