Sigmoidoscopy

I had a scan and sigmoidoscopy that found nothing. I did have uterine polyps that resulted in a hysterectomy but no cancer was found.

I've been put in for a Sigmoidoscopy test soon , last one was 4 years ago. Do I still need to have it?. I really don't want to so would appreciate your thoughts. Hope your all as well as you can be. Many thanks MistyX

Recently I had a sigmoidoscopy, and it did show blood but was told not to be too alarmed. I suffer from ulcerated colitis. Since I moved from one county to another, I have to see doctors in my area. I will now get another opinion.

Hi I've just been told I need a sigmoidoscopy before my surgery? Ive been told by the secretary not my surgeon. I've had the usual CT scans, MRI, been admitted because my ovarian cyst ruptured, but not been told I need one of these.

He said the results of my flexible sigmoidoscopy showed that my colon was red and showed congestion. Biopsy showed inflammation. I am back for an urgent referral to GI doctor. In your experience what does congestion mean ( I googled it and scared myself).

I had a sigmoidoscopy in the past and felt normal after so was just wondering how others felt after a colonoscopy . Thanks for any comments.

And they’ve referred me for a flexible sigmoidoscopy, has any body else had this? I’ve noticed yesterday when I opened my bowels there was like a jelly and what looked like blood. I do get blood from bowel but not like this before only usually as I wipe? Also get some much bloatin!

Had a flexible sigmoidoscopy done in January and I saw myself the tumour well they are calling it a lesion. And had 10 biopsy s taken out of bowel all of which came back cancerous. the tumour is only tiny but looked enormous on the camera until the doctor told me the camera was magnified by 50%.

They can't do a colonoscopy and the sigmoidoscopy was incomplete because the 'obstructive pathology' meant the instrument could not get past the rectum. According to the medics, none of the above causes pain??????

Has anybody had a flexible sigmoidoscopy without sedation and what did it feel like ?

Hi I have elevated calprotectin and flexible sigmoidoscopy showed mild inflamation. At the time of the procedure I hadn't had any of my usual symptoms for a few months (bloody poo and mucus, very frequent trips to loo). This was back in October.

My symptoms led to a Sigmoidoscopy which was normal but the pain I had afterwards was excruciating. I never had wind like that. Felt like I was going to pop. 👀 Pre procedure the nurse said it wasn’t worse than going to the dentist.

I have a defecography and a sigmoidoscopy scheduled. He suggested maybe SUDD or SCD (segmental colitis). The only thing that helps me is having a good bowel movement like using Magnesium in the morning before my morning walk. He's a good doc and he's trying but the pain and cramping continue.

CT SCAN, MRI, X Ray, colonoscopy, EGD, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy didn't reveal anything anatomically abnormal. So the GI treated me empirically for CIC, then IBS-M, followed by SIBO, H Pylori and GORD.

I’ve had a flexible sigmoidoscopy and abdominal ultrasound and blood tests all come back 100% normal (except a hemorrhoid) I’m wondering if a stool test would be an okay test to do.

Then on my birthday I get a pre-assessment letter ‘fill in and return within one week, failure will result in you being removed from the waitlist’ I haven’t even had the sigmoidoscopy yet (I’ve had CTC and Colonoscopy already previously).

I remember during sigmoidoscopy the doctor asked if I have AF which I have and he said that you have a blood supply ruptured that could cause thrombosis. He also asked if I am on blood thinner medication which I am not. Biopsies x4 samples taken and attending histology report.

I saw a consultant (it was quicker than the GP) in June and had a minor procedure a sigmoidoscopy. All was well for a while but the problem has reoccured today so I rang the clinic and can see the consultant on the 1 November? I'm sure they said it was 2021 but am in shock.

Anyone had a sigmoidoscopy? I believe it's not as bad as a colonoscopy. I'm having it this Saturday but am so scared. I've requested to be sedated but reading people's views on sedation for colonoscopy procedure it seems it's such a light sedation that it does nothing.
