Just to let you all know and keep you all up to date. I am absolutely fine. Just to keep everyone up to date I am sure many of you know I was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the end of January. Since then have been up and down to the hospital many of time and it is now starting to feel like my second home lol 😂.
Had a flexible sigmoidoscopy done in January and I saw myself the tumour well they are calling it a lesion. And had 10 biopsy s taken out of bowel all of which came back cancerous. the tumour is only tiny but looked enormous on the camera until the doctor told me the camera was magnified by 50%. To be honest with you all I am absolutely petrified and even more scared as I have to go into hospital on the 1st April (yes I know, shit ain’t it lol 😂) For a bowel resection or a partial Colectomy if you want to be all medical. 2 to 3 hours in surgery and have to stay in hospital for 5 days although they think I may be home after 3 days as my surgeon is doing it all by keyhole surgery. Am not going to lie am absolutely terrified but not by the surgery it is the fact that I am terrified about being put to sleep as I am thinking I will not wake up after. So there you have it.
Thank you everybody for you warmth love kind words and support. I love you all
Wishing you the very best Shaun and good luck for your op. You will wake up, try not to worry. I had surgery in 1997. It was my first, and I said a prayer just before they put me under because I too was scared of not waking up!
"If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my Soul to take."
And I woke up just fine, and according to the recovery room nurse, laughing and snorting at something in my hazy sleep, which I don't remember. Must have been a dream.
Hello , I only joined today , and reading your post made my problems seem small , I wish you all the best ,and really hope your recovery will be swift , I admire your courage to admit to being scared , so would I be , but I'm sure you'll be fine , best wishes to you .xx
I'm glad you put this on Shaun, I was going to message you to ask about where you were with things but wasn't sure or not if I should, so you have answered my question for me without my having to ask it. Don't be worried about being knocked out, I had my son by emergency cesarean and we both lived to tell the tale! 😊
You could look for statistics - well, only the good ones and ones that are relevant. Bad stats and those related to stuff like average wing spans of various coastal birds during the 1980s, well, I'm thinking you can give those a miss. Re your pesky nephew, he just extended his gifts embargo to age 46. Keep posting your progress,!
Wishing you all the best shaun and I see you’re a Leo? ♌️ Us leo’s are made of sterner stuff. Good luck and I know it’s easy for me to say but you’ll wake up and it’ll be onwards an upwards. Positive thoughts are being sent your way 👍
Hi Shaun. So glad your ok! It's normal to feel you wont wake up during an op. I have felt the same. I had 3 ops in 2 years and felt the same each time. I wish you a quick recovery after your op in April. Take care and keep strong. Sue xx
Noticed the post put up by your hacker which was swiftly taken down (thank goodness). If you know who the hacker is then this was a joke too far...anyway, just want to wish you all the very best for your op and please do not think you will not wake up - many thousands of people undergo a GA daily! Go in the mindset that your lesions are going to be taken out so they cause less harm. Keep us posted..
Hello Shaun.I will be thinking of you on the 1st AprilGiven your good sense of humour I think the date is appropriate and wish you the very best of luck.Lots of love going your way.xx
I remember feeling terrified of not waking up after having an anaesthetic, that the first thing I said in the recovery room was “I’m alive” and nearly crying with relief. The nurses nearly burst out laughing. They will all look after you
Shaun, I know everyone is different but I’ve had over 20 surgeries that I was put to sleep for, it’s some great sleep. I have had a problem sleeping every since my accident. What bothered me was they wouldn’t let you sleep they reverse it and stand beside the bed calling you name telling it’s all over and everything went well but you have to wake up now. It’s a wonder I hadn’t said something out of the way. Good luck with your surgery and hope it all go goes well prayer helps a lot and I know a lot of people will pray for you. God bless it will be fine.
