The Remedies For What Ails Us...circa 1837
One of my treasures is a medical book which was written and published in 1837...designed as a guide for both medical people and for general use in a household, it makes for entertaining reading...I bought it ages ago at a car boot sale for a couple of pounds. I looked up chest disorders and diseases

Switch from seretide to fostair
Hi has anyone on here been switched from seretide to fostair. Was told it has finer particles and may work better when I attended a difficult asthma clinic. I have been on seretide for at least 15 years and at various dosages highest was 500 mcg 3 puffs am and pm. Currently been put down to 500 one

Thank you
I would just like to thank everyone who kindly responded to my post... The doctor came out last night and gave me a steroid injection that helped a lot . I still don't feel well, but certainly better than I did. He told me to increase the seretide and ventolin and if things get any worse to ring the

Consultant Table Tennis!
Well it was time to visit my lung specialist at the hospital today. To find out what my SA test had shown up? Ask why I have not heard about the PR I was supposed to go on? Got there early and went through the reception process with the most miserable person on the desk as I greeted her with a smile

When to use nebuliser
I was wondering how often peoe use their nebuliser and how you decide it's the time to use it. I take 2 puffs of 250 Seretide twice a day with a spacer and ventolin as and when needed. But this time of year, with the usual chest infection, on antibiotics and steroids, just wondering if using the nebuliser

Symbicort vs Seretide for copd
I was on Symbicort, but because I was still having problems with breathing, consultant changed me over to Seretide. After several weeks my breathing became much worse, so much so, that after little exertion I was puffing and panting constantly. I am now back on Symbicort and all that gasping for breath

Maybe not so lucky!
I usually count myself pretty lucky with not suffering many side effects from meds. This latest flu jab however has bucked the trend and not in a small way.Had my Copd review on Friday along with flu jab,no mention of any side effects.Review was fine, spirometry very slightly lower but not enough to worry

very worried about next cons app
Hello to everyone on this forum. I have been lurking for a year or so, just after I was first seen by cons, and have found it very informative. If anyone is able to offer any advice or suggestions regarding how to approach things with the cons so as it does not all go wrong again. I was diagnosed asthma

Terrible taste in my mouth after stopping smoking.
I have been stopped smoking for 4 months.i had been a pack a day for thirty years. It's not been easy for me, I have really struggled with it. I have put 2 stone on in weight, and have felt awful and ill with my chest the full 4months. I have been an asthmatic from being a child. I have taken seretide

ventolin and heart rate
I am trying to tackle my worsening asthma by getting fitter, but because the exercise can often exacerbate symptoms, cause breathlessness or a coughing fit I take some precautionary ventolin in advance. This is usually effective (though not always). Anyway, even though my work is very sedentary, I had

Seretide 250
Hi there - I have just been prescribed Seretide 250 Accuhaler (use twice daily) by my consultant. I was concerned because it's a steroid inhaler and I have so far only been using Spiriva, so this is a big one for me. I asked about side-effects and the Consultant said it was ok to take as it wasn't the

correlation between peak flow and symptoms?
A,m still have a significant increase in symptoms at the moment, not yet brought under better control by the increase in Seretide dosage. No infection, I think, but lots of morning coughing and scary wheeziness, tight chest and more rapid, or harder work breathing during the day, and a strange sensation

What constitutes an attack?
Hi, background: still learning to live with this, asthma hit last year, probably heightened hormonal sensitivity to allergens with perimenopause/ menopause. But I also get exercise induced asthma so take a couple of puffs in advance. Been coughing a lot all summer, completely stuffed nose etc, but
