Do I have a conversion problem? Latest test results.
So - not sure if I may have a conversion problem going on. I still don't feel optimally medicated on only 50 mcg Levo, been on that amount since March. Last saw Doc early May and she basically said 're-test in 6 months, don't want to bump your Levo up higher'. I agreed to that, thinking that if I feel

Weight Gain and the Intermittent Fasting Protocol
Hi I had a total thyroidectomy a month or so ago. I was already morbidly obese but had had success in losing 2stone prior to the op. Upon leaving hospital until now, I gained 21lb, seven of which were put on in 1 week after inducing a calorie controlled diet of between 1200-1400 calories a day. I have

How many of you had the Epstein-Barr Virus (aka Glandular Fever) or a viral episode before diagnosis. Check out this interesting article!
Hi guys Well ! I know I certainly did as they did a blood test and found high level Mononucleosis - which sometimes does not show up in all cases. The article I'd like to share with you (and no promotion of the book written by this healthcare professional) is the following, please Google

Which selenium test - urine or blood?
Hi everyone! Some success with the GP to report - they're going to test for T3 as well as T4 and TSH from now on - but no luck asking for a selenium test. They don't do them - the GPs at my surgery literally can't request them on their system! I have problems converting T4>T3, and apparently this might

Do you have a gallbladder or sluggish liver?
On my on going quest for answers I have discovered the root of my problem is most likely the lack of my gallbladder. No doctor tells you the problems it is likely to cause you, they just tell you you will be fine after all it's just a gallbladder and you don't need it right? WRONG! I have nearly all

"natural" treatment for mild hyperthyroidism
Ray Sahelian MD ran this article in his recent newsletter. Although I don't agree with TSH 0.5-4 being "normal". Overactive thyroid natural treatment? Most cases of hyperthyroidism are treated with antithyroid medicines or radioactive iodine therapy. If you have a mild to moderate case of hyperthyroidism

Is iodine useful to lift T4 levels
Hello. My results of thyroid function (done privately) are... TSH 3.52 (range .27 - 4.2) T4 12.4 (range 12.0 - 22.0) Free T3 4.9 (range 3.9 - 6.8) Is it useful for me to take 150mcg iodine pills (twice a day) to lift T4? Presumably I need to also take selenium at the same time. I have and NHS doc appointment

Not tolerating thyroid meds...help please
Hello everybody. My name is Aimee. I am 40 years old and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's almost 1 year ago now. I have been unable in the interim to treat with any sort of medication due to the fact that I respond so sensitively to all supplements and medications. I also have a MTHFR mutation. I don't

Please help - what do I do next?!
Hi everyone, I am starting to feel desperate as I can't work out where to go next. I am unsure whether I am under medicated, over medicated or just inappropriately medicated! I have been on Levothyroxine for 2 and a half years and initially I felt better on it, the only symptom that remained was brain

Good T4 to T3 converter, or not
I always seem to be asking for a bit of help but I do feel I am getting there with help from this site and a wonderful fellow Hashi relative. One more question though... How do you know if you are a good converter from T4 to T3? What percentage of T4 converted to T3 is considered good? I have been taking

Hemp oil for migraine
I would recommend half a teaspoon of hemp oil, for anyone suffering with migraine. I read somewhere that it works. I was a little sceptical as I have tried other herbs, that only worked for a while. I recently bought it at the local health store. Cost a little over £8, but you can't put a price on pain

Plan of attack for low T3 / Ferritin / B12
Hi everyone! My latest NHS results are in: T4: 17.3 (10-23pmol/L) TSH: 6 (0.27-4.2mIU/L) Folate: 10.9 (3.10-20.50ug/L) B12: 471 (187-883ng/L) Ferritin: 59 (22-275) This is in the context of a Medichecks blood test the day before that found low T3 (which the NHS don't check for): TSH: 5.98 (0.27-4.20
