Spring, and unusual weather
Think here in Midlands have early spring, my prunus cherry tree is in full bloom, pigeons eating flowers, hardy fuchsias in leaf, whilst snowdrops crocus etc still flowering beautifully. Lucky not to have had flooding where I live. Blue tits have been going into their box since before Christmas, can

Hey lovely AFibbers. Been a while & I said I would post after cardio Appmt in Dec. I had my specialist consultation in Dec with the teaching hospital, my local district general had referred me to. It has been agreed that I will have to have surgical not catheter ablation due to my occluder device. However

Pulmonary function tests
Hi My mum has systemic sclerosis which has a massive impact on her lungs and breathing. She’s now in her third year without having the normal pulmonary function tests and she feels her breathing has got significantly worse in that time. She hasn’t had the vaccine due to her condition and has just continued

Pradaxa
Have anyone experience of pradaxa? My pharmacist knows very little and not used a lot where I stay. They say they have to order it in, so give them plenty time to get repeats. I reclotted on rivaroxaban, bilateral PEs, last Tuesday I left hospital on 18000 heparin injections and have newly stared pradaxa

creating a warfarin app - how should it look like to you?
hi everyone - I have looked around the internet for good apps that can help you manage your INR level but I haven't found any. As my hematologist is considering switching my anticoagulant from Fragmin to warfarin, I would like to create an app that makes my life easier on this medication. I code, so

REGEN-COV Antibody Combination and Outcomes in Outpatients with Covid-19
Just published: phase 3 results of an outpatient trial of Regn-Cov (USA; known as Ronapreve in the UK). Summary results may have been given before by press release, but here is the detail. Interestingly, almost 70 % of the subjects had no detectable antobodies at baseline. Administered in an outpatient

Lung Volume Reduction Surgery
Hello Friends. I have read a number of posts about VRS and almost all have said it has improved their life considerably. I am recently retired and have tried to improve my general health and breathing through diet , excercise , and following my treatment regimen. I don't seem to be getting any better

Just diagnosed with diastolic heart failure and I am shocked! Could this be MPN induced?
I have had shortness of breath issues for quite some time. I had a heart ultrasound and pulmonary function test. The ultrasound showed thickening and stiffening of the left ventricle. The pulmonary test shows results common in asthma and copd. I am asthmatic. I was a smoker off and on but never smoked

Shortness of breath for days after exertion
Hi, everyone. I have been struggling for several years now and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this… I have had asthma since basically birth, well controlled until I turned 36, and now at 41, and I’m having shortness of breath for days after mild exertion. My asthma has never done this. I

Constant problems
I too have these jelly like balls. I cough up every morning. These fits of wheezing and coughing up a lot of it comes and goes. But every day since I got pneumonia, I've been coughing these up. Always white in color. Never alarming smell or color. Did a pulmonary function test and they told me they didn't

Two doses of enoxaparin inj a day for APS stroke survivors?
I ve had a couple of dibilatating strokes but w alot of PT(physio) i am very close to 98%. My question is i am on enoxaparin 2.2 mg/kg every twelve hours is this average for most. I know some without strokes take only take 40mg a day as a preventative. What are other”APS stroke” patients taking. Curious

CT scans suggest possible lung destruction in some asthmatics
A novel CT scan-based approach has revealed significant changes in a parameter indicating lung destruction in some asthmatics. This finding could lead to more personalized treatments for asthma accompanied by persistent airflow limitation. Clinicians have long thought that some people with asthma experience

The curved spine I have had most of my life and will probably just get worse with age this will strengthen it. My question

Pulmonary Function tests
Hi, could I ask if people have continued to have Pulmonary Function Tests during COVID? Any thoughts on whether these are risky for COVID transmission especially if you haven't had the vaccine? I can't seem to find much information online about this. Thanks

Rivaroxaban
Hi guys. I’ve got my ablation coming up on the 16th of august 😬 still not dancing on the ceiling about it but slowly getting my head around it. I’ve got a question about rivaroxaban. I’ve been told to start taking this tomorrow but they didn’t mention how much to take? Due to my age (35) I don’t

Abelacimab shown to be an effective blood clot treatment
A potentially game-changing treatment for people with, or at risk of, blood clots has been found effective by an international team of researchers led by McMaster University’s Jeffrey Weitz. Weitz’s team compared abelacimab with enoxaparin as a control drug in 412 patients undergoing knee replacement

Potential biomarker found for lung disease in scleroderma patients

Sunday Lunches
My sister lives abroad and comes over to the UK each year for our summer months. Last year with all that was going on only stayed 4/5wks in case Barbados put the UK on their no entry list etc. I was fine meeting her at our favourite restaurants for Sunday lunch and/or even additional mid week, as
