Pulmonary Function tests

Hi, could I ask if people have continued to have Pulmonary Function Tests during COVID? Any thoughts on whether these are risky for COVID transmission especially if you haven't had the vaccine? I can't seem to find much information online about this. Thanks

I certainly didn’t they said they couldn’t do them during COVID too risky, although I now have one booked for September this year. Fingers crossed it doesn’t get cancelled because I haven’t had one since 2019.

Exactly the same for me… the hospital does them but only for a narrow selection of patients

My hospital did them.

My consultant told me they can only do a few per day as they have to thoroughly disinfect the equipment in between patients. I haven’t had one since 2019.

I haven't had any since 2019 either. All of my hospital appointments got cancelled and I had a video appointment earlier this summer to discuss how I'm doing.

I've had one. It is considered high risk and I had to have a PCR test two days before and then self-isolate until the appointment. It was very quiet and all went well.

This is what happened with me as well.

Yeah the hospital aren’t asking for covid tests before so I don’t know if it’s just selective hospitals doing that which seems crazy!

I was very fortunate to have had all my regular LFT'S. I had them done 3 months ago and have another appointment next week My lung function tests had shown a decrease in my oxygen exchange.

Did they say it was safe to be having them right now? It’s for my mum who feels she is deteriorating but she is having no tests as she keeps putting them off due to fears over covid and not having the jab. I’m sorry to hear that your oxygen exchange had dropped x

I always feel safe having my LFT'S at my local hospital.. The person doing the tests is in full PPE. The room and equipment are both thoroughly sanitised and the room is left empty for half an hour between patients. I have now had both vaccines but felt safe having the tests before I had the vaccines. I hope all goes well for your Mum. X

I called my GP surgery yesterday about wanting to book one as it has been so long since my last one. I am having to wait 2 weeks for a phone appointment with my GP to ask her to order one for me, presumably at my nearest hospital rather than the Royal Free, where I am supposed to have them annually.

My consultant said it’s to risky to have my test. He said not to go to hospital unless an emergency.

I had one last year without a problem. I assume I'll have another this year, but I have it at a clinic not a hospital. I'm still waiting to get immunised.

I had two of them in the last 12 months (here in Germany). Was no problem at all.
