I too have these jelly like balls. I cough up every morning. These fits of wheezing and coughing up a lot of it comes and goes. But every day since I got pneumonia, I've been coughing these up. Always white in color. Never alarming smell or color. Did a pulmonary function test and they told me they didn't understand why I had issues as my lungs seemed perfect. Yet here I am the last two days near passing out because I cannot get air. Any ideas? My doctors have given up on me.

Used to really struggle with these jelly lumps myself. Has been much easier to get them up since increasing my carbocisteine from 2x3 times daily to 2x4 times daily. Been doing this for 2 years now with no ill effects.
I had a similar problem and still cough up the odd lump but like you had ok pulmonary function tests. It is a hard subject for me to bring up as I suffer from anxiety and I am sure that other members of this forum have suffered from anxiety which as affected their breathing. I try to look at problems from all angles and if your doctors have eliminated immediate physical causes then anxiety could be a factor. My other thought was that you are having an allergic reaction or reaction to something you have come in contact with. Keep a diary of when the events happen, what you are doing etc. It may help your doctor unwrap the puzzle of why this is happening to you.
Acid Reflux or even can cause excess mucus after sleeping.
