Pre-diabetic. Related?

Been feeling really draggy and have had a cold which will not go away for a month. So got a physical. Only abnormality was fasting glucose at pre-diabetes level. Blood sugar has always been low. Diabetes in my family so I am very careful. I am probably 10 lbs overweight, not a lot ( 5' 3" size 8). Could this be related to PBC? Any thoughts? Super aggravated

When you have a physical are blood tests for vitamin D and C included? Together with other vitamins these contribute to our overall well being. With the approval of the specialist I take a multivitamin each day. I don't eat a lot of fruit but I do eat plenty of green leafy vegetables. I have not heard of a continuous cold being associated with PBC but when we battle PBC I am sure that it burns through our resources which makes it harder to fight off colds. Hope you are soon feeling better.

I’m pretty sure diabetes and PBC go hand in hand. My GI doctor actually cautioned me about it , and I’ve always had low blood sugar on my A1C.

I am sorry you are going through this. 💐

this is what I found on Google. I’m in compensated cirrhosis and I still have low A1C results.

Thanks. There is a good deal of both 1 and 2 diabetes in my family so I have always been super careful about diet and exercise. Going to up my game and hope to control it without any additional medical intervention. I asked my doc to recheck it in 60 days

Sorry you feel so badly. I too am diagnosed as prediabetic. Have you had a A1c drawn? That blood test gives you the cumulative number for your glucose levels over the last 2-3 months. One 'borderline' glucose isn't really enough information. As far as being related to the PBC, it's not in my opinion. Having a family history of it, I think, is the key factor for being cautious. I would really recommend getting that A1c drawn. Hope you feel better.

You can try eating more vegetables and good fats, less carbs, and more exercise. Now you may just be insulin resistant.
