Hi, I am having a lumbar steroid injection for a slipped disc. the doctor performing it wants my my inr below 1.2. I attend Barnet hospital anticoagulation clinic in London. They told me the person performing the steroid injection must make a “ bridging plan “, that may or may not involve heparin

Sort of flu
I think I’ve got something flu like. I feel achy and horrible, coughing and exhausted. I have been very slowly reducing steroids and am down to 0.5 mg. I’ve been getting shooting pains in one knee and have painful fingers, I’ve never had these particular symptoms before! I don’t know if pmr is flaring

Beta Alanine: STOPS or STARTS itch?
Considering trying Beta Alanine to stop my PV itch, but every time I Google what makes it STOP itch (i.e., how does it work?), all I come up with are articles that say it STARTS itch! Did anyone w/ PV, AP, etc. have their itch actually intensify by taking BA? Also curious if anyone happens to know

'Fertility Solutions' DNA testing and consultation - and Andrology solutions personal experience please
Before I have another round of IVF/ICSI I think its important to check out male factor in my husband as we have two failed rounds behind us. I have enquired about Jonathan Ramsey and no appointments for three months. The consultation plus testing is in excess of 1,800. I am looking at fertility solutions

COVID!
After a couple of days feeling under the weather, I (finally) tested positive for COVID this morning. I have a headache, and stuffy nose, nothing else. My wife, from whom I probably caught it has symptoms so mild that she didn't even think to test until I came up positive. They sent her home from work

The dreaded covid
Hi Having recently come home from a holiday, both my husband and I have tested positive for covid. He’s never had it so he’s been quite poorly, I’m the one on watch and wait with CLL, I’m feeling not as rough but I’ve had it a year ago, and have had all the vaccinations offered me and so has hubby.

Been on the IC since April 24h….bit fed up now!
Hi, I completed C25K a few years ago, and run regularly. I started having pain in both feet earlier this year, which felt like Plantar Fasciitis, which I had had very successful surgery for over 20 years ago! ( I must have been REALLY lucky with the results, as it’s hardly done now, as it’s not thought

IUI vs. IVF
Hi, Firstly let’s tell you a bit about mine and my OH’s situation. We’ve been TTC for 2 years, I’ve had an internal ultrasound, HyCoSy - all fine and clear. My AMH is normal and I have regular periods. My OH’s results are also all normal apart from low sperm count. so we’ve been told to go for IVF

late fertilisation of mature egg
I was told by our embryologist that only 3 of the 6 mature eggs collected were fertilised by ICSI on Sunday however today they’ve advised there are currently 4 embryos as one fertilised later? How can this happen if ICSI was being used and will that embryo have any chance of making it to day 5 for testing

Tetanus booster while on prednisone?
Has anyone had the tetanus booster (I'm due for a 10-year one) while on prednisone? Am I correct in understanding that we should not have "live" vaccines? And I can't find any information that mentions if it's live or not. Thank you so much for any insights!

advice on sulfasalazine and the sun
I have been told by my rheumatologist nurse that I need to start taking sulfasalazine for my reactive arthritis, as I had a steroid injection after taking steroids orally, but it’s still not keeping the joint stiffness at bay completely . I’m not happy as I was under the impression that reactive arthritis

Sick note
Hello, wondered if anyone could give me some advice. My husband has been off sick from work with Covid for 9 days and he has been quite poorly but back to work now. He only works 3 days a week but needs a sick note to cover him for 2 days. When contacting the GP they told him they don't give sick

Dry achey eyes
I have ET Calr diagnosed 5 years ago on Hydroxycarbamide. Recently I have had problems with my eyes. Very achey, dry, frequent styes. My GP gave me eyedrops for the dry eyes, which have helped but the eye ache is still a problem. Anyone else experienced this?

Success stories with embryo donation
Hi everyone, we are about to have a transfer with an embryo donor, just wondering if there are any success stories? We already have a beautiful daughter who is shortly turning 3 from our second ICSI cycle. We have had three miscarriages and completed 6 ICSI cycles. I am also 43 in September so

hypothyroid pins and needles in feet
I have been Hypo for 20+ years and since last winter I have pins and needle like pain in my feet. This is almost constant but becomes much worse when cold. Toes are cold to the touch and not pink. Dr has diagnosed Reynards but I’m not sure this is correct as it doesn’t appear in bursts. Does anyone

ICU survivor 7 months later
Hi, Just to introduce myself to this fabulous group, I am a survivor of ICU from January this year. I attended an outpatient appointment expecting to have dressings applied to my foot and possibly having a cast within 24 hours I was on the operating table having a life-saving operation. Unbeknown to

MODERNA SPIKEVAX (2022) COVID Vaccine Availability Autumn 2023 Uk
Hi all, As anyone had a Moderna COVID vaccine (2022 version Bivalent Spikevax) this autumn in the UK, I have a clinical need to avoid Pfizer and that is all that is being sent out at present. I have been in touch with UKHSA, NHS England, local Vaccine authority, Haematologist and GP without any joy.
