Breathing becomes worse POST COVID

I have COPD without any SOB before COVID, I was infected with COVID few months back and recovered without oxygen support. I am having post Post covid symptoms such as brain fog (light dizzy throughout the day), elevated heart rate. But surprisingly my lung function FEV and FVC has increased, but feeling more shortness of breath than before. Astonishingly my eyesight improved (power changed from -3 to -2 ) and My weight increased during the period. My GP say don't stitch it together, treat them individually, but part of me feel they are connected. Any insight on your POST COVID experience and recovery will be very helpful.

Hi Maverick2, I had Covid back in April, really unwell slept for 4 days, but no breathing probs at the time, it was followe by loss of weight, awful smell of burnt rubber, lack of appetite and my hair started to fall out. It never affected my breathing at the time until two months later I began to get breathless. Antibiotics given and xray showed something on my lung which turned out to be an infection which cleared 6 weeks later after second lot of antibiotics. If I were you I would go back to docs and see what he says, dont ignore it. x

Hi, I’m having a similar experience. I had double pneumonia with covid last November and I’m still breathless (more than before) and I have an elevated heart rate. However I do feel much better than I did and I have found doing a little exercise everyday helps and by exercise I mean things like walking on the spot gentle strengthening exercises as in the BLF booklet or try going up and downstairs. I have also bought singing for lung health on Amazon music and that has helped. Someone posted on here that it took them 21 months to recover so it can be a long slog but keep with it. Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks for sharing your experience, I too heard that road to POST COVID recovery is long one. Being always active, taking it slow is new to me, but all that i can do now is wait till it runs its natural course.

Yeah it’s not easy taking it slow and it gets frustrating but doing too much to soon sets you back so it’s a fine balance. Good luck with your recovery
