'Fertility Solutions' DNA testing and consultation - and Andrology solutions personal experience please

Before I have another round of IVF/ICSI I think its important to check out male factor in my husband as we have two failed rounds behind us.

I have enquired about Jonathan Ramsey and no appointments for three months. The consultation plus testing is in excess of 1,800.

I am looking at fertility solutions with clinics across london. They offer tests for £450 and then a consultation with a consultant embryologist (reduced consultation fee of £55)

''Website states - we work closely with Consultant Urologist, Mr Jonathan Ramsay. Mr Ramsay is deeply knowledgeable about DNA fragmentation and has helped countless men decrease DNA damage in their sperm. Depending on the cause of your high DNA fragmentation, there is a good chance we could help improve yours too.''

I cant get in touch with them on the phone.

Andrology solutions - I wonder if going straight into the tests would be ok and just have the consultation after (the danger is they recommend more tests and it becomes even more expensive in the long run....

1) An initial consultation (1 hour £195) to discuss the full history and all relevant test results. At this point Prof. Homa may suggest other relevant testing or a referral etc. Any further tests recommended would have results discussed in a follow-up consultation (30 - 40 minutes £175).

2) DNA Fragmentation & Oxidative stress test completed first (£425), for which she strongly suggested that both be completed in your case. After this she will discuss the results, previous results, lifestyle and history in a longer 1 hour consultation (£195). Just be aware that if this is the chosen option she may suggest further testing after the initial consultation.

Any advice or experiences hugely appreciated

I don’t have any experience to share but interested in the replies. I was looking at Fertility Solutions and they seem to have appointments available immediately. I’m trying to find the most affordable way of doing further testing.

Seeing Jonathan Ramsey will be money well spent. It definitely was for us.

It’s such a shame the nhs just send couples straight to ivf if there’s a male factor without looking into it.

Hi lovely, I'd definitely do the DNA frag test through Fertility Solutions before going to see Dr Ramsay. He's great and I highly recommend him, but it's probably a bit premature to book in to see him before you know if your partner even has issues. Plus any consult with a urologist (Dr Ramsay or anyone else) will be more productive if you go in with some test results to discuss rather than going in blind.

My husband did several of his DNA frag tests through Fertility Solutions and they were great. It's brilliant that you can just book yourself an appointment online and they don't require a referral or a consult in order to do the testing. xx

third the good vibes about fertility solutions. We went to them as our CARE clinic no longer offered sperm dna fragmentation testing. Didn’t expect much. But in fact Claire who did our consultation with the results gave us one of, if not the best, consultation we’ve had over the years.it wasn’t just my DHs result. It was a thorough review of our case and she’s spoken to Mr Ramsay and the rest of the team about our case. So all in all very satisfied. And best of all no push or hard sell for any more tests etc just honest and caring help and opinion.

Thanks so much for the reply. What was done with the results ? Were you able to continue with a normal treatment plan eg icsi … not picsi or anything else ?? X

We were encouraged to continue with IVF only, and the only treatment change as such was something that’s completely free - just for DH to abstain for 24 hrs rather than 3-5 days before egg collection day, and he was also advised to go no more than 48 hours between ejaculations in the weeks leading up to egg collection. I can make a lot of jokes but I think he’s found it quite exhausting 😂.

Sorry me again with another question!! - does it include a standard semen analysis too? And did the clinic mention alcohol and effects ? I’m going round and round with this argument 😵‍💫

The DNA fragmentation doesn’t include a standard semen analysis unless you ask for that to be done too. They will usually requests the results of a reasonably recent semen analysis to use in discussion with you.

Yes very much so about the alcohol. Diet, smoking and lifestyle in general all discussed and addressed. I really hope hearing it from a professional helps!

Hey! just had our results - 42 % fragmentation and recommended to see Johnathan Ramsey. I wonder what yours were for her to say simply abstain for 24 hours x

I’m sorry to hear this but maybe will help him realise he is important in this too and needs to look after himself.

I can’t remember the number (and DH who has it on phone away at the moment) but it was only just into abnormal range I think.

Glad you’ve finally had it and had advice. Maybe that helps make your decision on postponing regarding the smoking/vaping worry easier as best to hold off now until Mr Ramsay seen him?

I can only personally recommend Fertilysis, they were really great and we got our results back in 10 working days (it's also a lot cheaper than the ones you listed above and they breakdown the results for you!). I think I sent you a DM a few weeks ago with the link and costs.

You can also pay I think an extra £50-100 for a consultation with a doctor their to discuss it the results/treatment if needed further. It saves going into a clinic and your partner can do it all in the comfort of your home. I know it feels weird sending it off to Greece but they are getting a really big following and seem really far forward in terms of fertility testing and the services they offer (plus price!). Good luck x
