The whole finding a living donor process is a JOKE!!!
What I guess aggravates me the most about being in the position that I am in, is that when you are looking for a donor it is all up to the PATIENT to find a person to donate to you and there is absolutely NOOO incentive to the donor to donate. For example, everyone in healthcare is making money off you

Tolvaptan
Has anyone been prescribed Tolvaptan to delay dialysis? It was just approved last week in the US for PKD. Was wondering how you feel on it or about it. In the US it's called Jynarque. Any feedback appreciated

First thank you to anyone reading this post. I have been reading all of the previous posts and I feel encouraged. My dad has been off sedatives for 5 days and has not woken up yet. He is getting continuous dialysis to help rid his body of the meds. Now they are seeing some swelling in his brain and I

Can anyone relate?
If so please speak up, my boyfriend is 48 and this November he had BOTH of kidneys removed due to bi lateral cancerous tumors. So far, this has been awful. Half the the time I’m not sure if this was the best choice. The doctors are no help, and there is absolutely no support from anyone with the same

Can I donate?
Hi everyone. My father started dialysis 2 weeks ago. He is on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. I still would like to ask whether I am able to donate my kidney to him. He says it wouldn't work because we share the same DNA.

How Long before.....
Just wondering what other people's conditions were when they went onto dialysis. My GFR is 8 and creatinine is 604. I feel great apart from cramps and some tiredness, but I thought I would have started dialysis with those stats.

pros and cons with peritaneal dialysis
It is the more convenient option but there is a lot of baggage and supplies. I have also had a problem with my exit site care-am getting bleeding and discharge and discomfort.St.James'Leeds have put me on course of antibiotics for this and am changing my dressing every day. They are talking about a tube

Arm Pain During Dialysis
I have been following this forum because my mom had to start dialysis. I find it so interesting but also quite perplexed of all the issues that so many people have with dialysis. You are all amazingly strong people who are so willingly to help others. It’s so gratifying to know that other people are

PD dialysis
Hi everyone, just a quick question. My father stated dialysis 2 days ago at the hospital but he's has been hallucinating and very drowsy. He's normally independent but he's not left his bed since. Is that normal? I'm worried abt him.

CKD caused by overuse of NSAIDS, GFR low again
I am a 46 yr old female and was in perfect health for years. I had no idea that I was over-using NSAIDS, I was in a car accident in 2007, and topped with female issues I was taking too much ibuprofen. Routine blood work caught my GFR of 42 years ago, elevated creatine, etc and I saw a nephrologist. He

How do I get on a donor list?
I have CKD for more than 30 years. Controlling diet has been a key to avoiding dialysis. Now my GFR has dropped to 22 and most likely I will go into dialysis.

Feeling Very Frustrated today!!!
This is my problem with the whole heath care system and putting the responsibility on the patient to find a living donor. As I am being worked up for a second kidney transplant I am constantly reminded from the doctors about the importance of finding a living donor, there are all these tools out there
