Itching Advice please!!!!
I remember having bad cramps from too much fluid and bad itching due to my diet. The itching may be caused from high phosphorus. She should cut out any dark sodas and follow these low phosphorus guidelines and always take her binders right before she eats so the medicine will be in the stomach with the food. Take binders even with snacks. Tums also binds phosphorus if she wants an extra binding agent that doesn't cost that much.
Hi
When I had itching I found it helped to regularly have a nice hot/warm bubbly bath and to give the itchy bits a good rub down in the bath.
When I came out I would apply a basic moisturizing cream......and relaxed for a while.. ...enjoying the non ichiness....
Hope this helps....

...also a fan helped to cool down the itches in between baths......
Thanks for your replies. she can't have a bath unfortunately as she is doing PD Dialysis..I'm sure a shower will have the same effect. She isn't on any binders so I'll mention this to the consultant today..
I had really bad itching and my doctor recommended antihistamines as well as phosphate binders. Hope it works for your mother.
Best wishes.
Hi, Ask your mum to apply hydromol ointment on the itching areas
It certainlu helped me a lot.
Thanks for your replies..Very helpful. We think she might be having an allergic reaction to the PD solution. So I have no idea how they're gonna get around that other than permanent strong antihistamines..
i had bad itching when i was on pd my consultant gave me loratadine tablets they helped me good luck hope all goes well.
Thanks Dave..the over the counter antihistamines don't seem to be helping. I think she may need prescription strength. She is doing really well with the PD. She said she'll be happy if she can't sort the rash and itching. I'm sure they will .
