Dopamine Triggers Movement but Does Not Sustain It, Parkinson’s Study Suggests
Interesting study. It suggests that a constant flow of dopamine is not necessary. https://parkinsonsnewstoday.com/2018/02/13/portuguese-and-american-study-finds-dopamine-sparks-but-does-not-sustain-movement/?utm_source=PAR+E-mail+List&utm_campaign=538f471527-RSS_WEEKLY_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_MONDAY_US&utm_medium

constipation and thiamin HCL
I had improvement in constipation issue soon after starting T-HCL. If it is not transient, I will look at that favourably. After starting in the 4g level of thiamin HCI, within a very short time and for the following fifteen week my bowel movements were regular and smooth. BIG change from the previous

benfotiamine vs thiamine hcl
My initial symptoms improvement (before switching to thiamin HCL) is credited to 500mg/day of benfotiamine. I must now reconsider choices. HCL is reported to be effective in one to two months from starting. I will continue with thiamin HCL for the remaining 5 weeks and after two months total if I do

First post. Happy 2018
My mother in law was diagnosed with PSP almost two years ago (
Parkinsonism
was the first attempt)... in her words, she feels like a Lab rat!! She’s now, again, on Sinemet... don’t know if it’s working, but don’t know what would be like if she’s taken off it.

New Girl
I am new. My husband is 64 and diagnosed with Parkinson’s in March, 2017. He is in the early stage but he has had symptoms for several years...we just did not know it was Parkinson’s until the tremors emerged. He joined Rock Steady classes last fall and has found a great group of peers. I’m here to connect

A "Newby" Checks In
My husband, David, was diagnosed w/Atypical
Parkinsonism
in May 2013, then w/PSP in Dec 2015. He is 61. What a roller coaster this ride is...already. Diapers full-time, a walker & wheelchair, choking. His grief and anxiety are (understandably) BIG! One day at a time keeps me from freaking out.

Parkinsons, swollen ankles.
I am new to HealthUnlocked. I take Madopar 150mg six times per day plus a 24 hour 6mg Rotigotine Patch. The patch has been reduced from 10mg to 6mg as it caused my ankles to swell. Agonists do not agree with me. I would like to come off the patch completely. My ankles are not as swollen but my tremor

Macuna's effect on rigidity?
Five months ago I swapped 2 of the 4 x 50mg madopar capsules I take each day for 2 x DopaBean macuna which contains 50 mg of l-dopa per capsule. I expected at best not to notice any difference. My Bowen therapist, who has worked on my soft tissue and muscles for the last four years, did however notice

Update: My Kefir Diary. Is this evidence of gut repair???? Not just weight loss!
As I continue religiously with my daily Coconut water kefir, I have noticed something of interest. Being fully Coeliac now, cow dairy, mustard, soya, legume, celery, fennel, gluten free cous cous intolerant, as well as rice intolerant... sulphites intolerant... Something had changed! Over the holiday
