Comparison of therapeutic effects and mortality data of levodopa and levodopa combined with selegiline in patients with early, mild Parkinson's disease

Levodopa in combination with selegiline seemed to confer no clinical benefit over levodopa alone in treating early, mild Parkinson's disease. Moreover, mortality was significantly higher with combination treatment, casting doubts on its chronic use in Parkinson's disease.

I wonder if the results would be replicated combining levedopa with another MAO B inhibitors such as rasagiline.

Its over 20 yrs since publication. 1995. Is it still current..... I thought subsiquent studies did not support the finding.

That Selegiline patch was the worst drug experience of my life. took 6 months to withdraw, too. It should be taken off the market.
