What if we are approaching this all wrong?
I remember talking to an Asian friend of mine a while back who said in her culture it is important to eat 25-30 different plant foods every day. Here is an article on how and why you should do it. https://www.goodfood.com.au/good-health/why-you-should-eat-30-different-foods-a-week-and-how-to-do-it-20200813

Magnesium - Citrate AND threonate?
Hallo I’ve discovered the amazing benefits of magnesium citrate from this site…really helps with sleep and stomach. Have been reading about threonate being quite powerful in helping with brain fog. Is it okay to take both? Does anyone take both? Thank you 😊 Jo

The Value Of Carbidopa Levodopa Demonstrated in Two Signatures
One of the first decisions a PwP must make is when (or whether) to begin taking medication. There is no correct answer and we all know how PD varies from person to person. I held off for 2 1/2 years after my diagnosis, but a relatively minor event today caused me to pause and think about how well sinemet

Gastrointestinal Dysfunction in Parkinson’s Disease 2021 Jan
There is an incredible amount of information about the PK effect on the gastrointestinal system in this paper. Pictures too! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7866791/ This part about the aggregated α-synuclein being all through the gut made me think of mannitol and if it is stopping α-synuclein

Transcranial magnetic stimulation improves cognition over time in Parkinson's disease September 2019
Not as effective as Caloric Vestibular Stimulation, and some studies have shown it to make things worse, but probably more available. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1353802019302962 Conclusion These preliminary findings suggest that active iTBS might improve overall cognitive

Hdt and mannitol: got my life back
Hi For what it is worth, I take a table spoon of mannitol and 2000 mg of thiamine per day. I have no idea what brings the improvement. It is spectacular so I have no intention to change the posologie to find out ! Also take little dose of modopar 3 times a day

Relationships of gut microbiota, short-chain fatty acids, inflammation, and the gut barrier in Parkinson’s disease
I promise to stop posting things once all of our progression has been stopped. This is some really fun reading (yes, I still skip over a lot, but more and more I read every word). Great charts. Thought provoking points... but wait, there's more! When you get to the bottom, there are 13 Docs/PDFs, and

Could Butyrate Be Bad for PWP? (MIT Study)
Earlier this year (2021), I learned about the benefits of butyrate from different sources and studies, then started dietary measures to boost its production in my gut. Shortly after, I came across a January 2021 report out of MIT that said the benefits of SCFA (including butyrate) have “opposite effects

Gene Therapy Success With Ties to Parkinson’s Disease
I posted this as a reply to Bass of Spade's optimistic post regarding gene therapy, but I think it's worthy of being the subject of a separate post. Gene Therapy Offers Long-Awaited Hope for Children with Rare, Incurable Disorder. Patients with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s May Benefit from Novel Treatment

MSA with Ambroxol HCL - a tentative success story!
So, MSA is a rare form of
Parkinsonism
, very nasty, with an average time to death of around 8 years - or less in the case of older individuals, such as my mother who is almost 70. Very hard to diagnose with certainty, confirmation is often only via autopsy.

Recently Diagnosed
Hi! I found this forum while searching for information on PD. I have been reading for a few months but never posted. Forgive me, this will be long. I am a 60 year old female in the US, recently diagnosed a few months ago. I was initially hesitant to try medication but recently changed my mind to improve

Do you continue taking B1 Thiamin HCL, High Dose Therapy (HDT)?
I’m wondering if HDT benefits after having had DBS surgery. What are you thoughts?
