Hello Everyone, I am a 47 year old married man who has been having occasional vacant episodes since 2022. Initially under the supervision of neurologist this also extended to cardiologist in 2023. After undergoing various tests, I was diagnosed with a “mild” heart block but had a heart loop recorder fitted in Dec 2023. In mid Jan 2024, I had an episode which was recorded on the loop recorder which showed my heart had stopped for 14 seconds and I was admitted straight away for a pacemaker. At the current time, am very shocked and surprised 😳 and sore but relieved that I have some explanation. I have read a lot of literature about pace makers but would be good to find from others what life is like after having one fitted and that life does go on. If nothing else to provide reassurance to my family including my wife and young daughter.

Hello Everyone !!
Hello
I am sorry to read what has happened and I hope those on hear that have had pacemakers will see your post will share their experiences with you
My Dad had a pacemaker he previously years before had a quadruple Bypass and was on Holiday when he took ill and they had to put him a pacemaker in
He always lived life to the full after his quadruple Bypass and he continued to live life to the full after having his pacemaker and I do believe he would still be here now if something else had not taken him so I would reassure yourself and your family that it is a positive you have your pacemaker and can live a long and happy life which I am sure you will x
Hi, I have a pacemaker. I have had it for almost 5 years. I needed it for a similar problem to yours. I was having near fainting episodes. I had an ILR as well and it picked up that I was having multiple pauses as long as 7 seconds. Pacemaker was a little uncomfortable for the first few weeks. I don't notice it now. Its doing it's job and I have had no further episodes. I go to the pacing clinic once a year to get it checked, no doubt yours may be checked remotely? I have been told my next one will be checked that way. Otherwise I have had no problems.
Perhaps this is something you could ask about when you are at your follow up appointment. They probably would have told you when you had the pacemaker implant done if that was going to happen. All the best to you.
