HI All. Just to tell you that my last CT Scans have shown no new tumours, and also CA125 readings are down. So good news to spread to all. Will remain on Avastin - which is working; yippee. Can now look forward as this time last year I wasn't even sure I would see Christmas. As you all know we greet

Cancer Drugs Fund in Wales - or Lack of it
Is anyone else concerned about the lack of a cancer drugs fund in Wales? It would be good to get to know people who feel the current postcode lottery is unfair, or equally people who question why patients in England have access to drugs that are denied in Wales. We all pay NI and Tax on a national basis

The joys of Avastin and Gemzar
I completed my first round of treatment with a lot of side effects. Eventually got to speak to Registrar last week before starting my second round. It was decided that I get steroid with the Gemzar to lessen side effects and in all had a good week. Went for check up to oncologist yesterday to find

Decision made - delaying 2nd treatment :)
Hi Ladies. Meeting with the oncologist today went as I hoped. I am asymptomatic and after a thorough examination it was agreed to delay my chemo for the the time being. My Avastin has been approved and will remain that way until I begin the regime of carbo/gem. I am pleased that I was able to take control

Finding it hard going
Hi ladies. Wanted to say hi to everyone and wondered if anyone is in a similar place to me at the moment. Am finding the reality of living with advanced cancer hard going these days. First line chemo done, surgery done, first CT post treatment was good. But side effects from chemo, surgery and menopause

Rally for Beth Margetson
I attended a rally yesterday in support of a woman I'd heard about from WendyD and last week through Facebook - Beth Margetson. Beth lives in Porthcawl, South Wales. She has breast cancer with metastases all over her body. We have no Cancer Drugs Fund in Wales and so Beth's oncologist had to apply for

I am due to have a pic line fitted soon?
My veins are being difficult and keep hiding from the chemo nurses (little devils) and it has been suggested I have a pic line fitted for the remaining two chemos and for the months of Avastin. Any tips would be helpful. I am a little worried about the fact I already have a PUlmonary embolism. Jill

Cancer Drugs Fund extended
Many recent posts have been a little disheartening with lots of friends lost to this disease. It was nice to read of Una's (Poleglass) award yesterday and I think more good news is welcome. Here's a link to a MSN article following The Prime Minister's announcement that the cancer drugs fund is to be

CT scan shows significant increase in lymph nodes plus rising CA125. Planned 2nd round chemo end October.
Well folks the news wasn't as good as I had hoped. CT scan showed one growth up from 1.5 cm to 3. Another up .5 to 1.5 plus another growth. The oncologist said lots of "blobs" here and there. As I am feeling well at the moment the dilemma is when to start treatment. Onc reckons best start 25th October

hello ladies.
Hi All. Agree that the blog can be a bit hit and miss, and sometimes can't see responses to me. Thanks for all your comments on facial hair - I know it is my vanity, but never had to deal with excess facial hair before and it was new to me. Headaches are really under control now and feel so good, and

I was on a clinical trial for ovarian cancer and had weekly chemo, carbo & paxi. Last chemo was 1st February 2013. Cancer has returned!
Had CT scan which showed one deposit grown by 1cm. CA125 now at 1900 although I feel quite well. Oncologist has ordered another CT with a view to starting 2nd line treatment with Avastin. I do not want another round chemotherapy but feel I have no option. Any advice??
