Avastin & headache side effect
Hi. Just to update you. Only on the new painkillers since Friday evening, and while I had a headache on Sat morning and had to take an additional pain killer during that day - since then NO PAIN ... yippee. Had forgotten what it was like to have no pain. So pleased with the immediate benefit. Also, as

CT Scan news & side effects of Avastin
Just to let you all know, CT Scan done today and looking good. No sign of any additional spread of tumours and I gather that the existing ones have not got larger. But in my case, the mind goes a bit blank when I hear good news so I hope I heard it all correctly. Will check in with my GP next week

Next step of the journey
Two weeks ago I received the shocking news that my lung cancer had spread. The cancer is now in both lungs and I have been diagnosed with bone cancer. The initial shock and horror has calmed with the help of the McMillan Nurse, Oncologist and GP........and a few anxiety drugs! I am due to start a new

Avastin side effects?
Hi, I was diagnosed with stage 3c OC on 5/4/12. I had debulking, then 6 rounds of chemo, with the last 2 sessions over lapping with the start of a long regime of Avastin. I was to have 18 sessions in all, having the infusions every 3 weeks. I got to session 13 when I just started to feel a bit off

Requests to Join Clinical Trials
Recently I asked my oncologist in Cardiff and the Vale whether I could be referred to a clinical trial in Bristol called DESKTOP. She was dismissive and said I wouldn't be eligible but her argument was flawed even to my untrained ear. I asked whether I couldn't be referred to Bristol just for an opinion

Three Peaks of North Yorkshire Challenge
Hi All On Saturday my husband, son and I are doing the three peaks of north Yorkshire challenge. This involves walking Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough approx 26 miles in 12 hours or less. We are raising money for Ovacome, I set a target of £1000 and have already raised £1600. I also hope

To have or or not to have?
Avastin, I am on 2nd line carbo/gem. Due 3rd cycle on Friday after which a CT scan then make your mind up time. I have read some of the side effects not very good, I also have Crohn's disease which doesn't help. Anyone else in similar state. Please help.

Avastin availability
Not been on for a while as have not been too great having had more surgery and still coping with an open would and an abscess. I started 3rd line treatment ( Caelyx) on Thursday having been told again that NICE do not sanction Avastin because of the cost, does anyone know if this is a post code lottery

Its Back
I saw my Oncologist yesterday, the beast is back, tumour larger than before, so I am commencing Gem/carbo within the next 1-2 weeks, and having Avastin as well, it feels quite scary at the moment -trying to come to terms with this,he seemed to think eight month remission was reasonable, and qualifies

Avastin for mets of ovarian cancer.
I'm confused - I have mets to the brain from OC and have been very ill. I have had two treatments of Avastin (paid for privately) whilst my consultant at Christies in Manchester has tried to get this funded as it is off the NHS. Its been refused twice even though it is clearly making me so much better

Carboplatin and gemcitabine
Hi everyone. I'm not a frequent blogger, though I frequently access all the amazing insight and support from this site. So, here's my story. At 45, 6 and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with stage III high grade OC, despite having been under the doctor for the previous year with 'non-specific' symptoms

Debulking surgery
We have asked repeatedly for this to be done but are being refused. My wife was diagnosed with suspected ovarian cancer (poorly differentiated, might be clear cell) in January. Post 6 carbo/taxol sessions she is now to go on to weekly taxol. They say the risks are too high of not getting all of it with

almost to the finish line I hope
I was newly diagnosed in January 2013 with stage IIIC. I have been receiving Taxol/Carbo and my last treatment will be June 4th. I am seriously looking into going on Avastin for a maintenance because I like the idea of taking away the blood supply to the cancer cells so they can not create any new
