Incredibly depressed but there's some positives out of it
Hi everyone, Yesterday I was severely depressed and felt like just going to sleep and doing sod all all day as it got a bit too much. I don't really like my work situation etc and the tinnitus is probably causing this but also some feelings of being reproached by external forces such as colleagues etc

GCA with normal CRP but high ESR?
I have been in remission from GCA for about 10 months. I went to A&E this week after persistent headaches for about 3 weeks, together with other new symptoms such as lethargy, a stiff achey neck, partial deafness, overheating in the day and night, and a very new upper back pain. At A&E my CRP was 11

High frequency pulsing tinnitus affected by outside noise sources
After years of regular tinnitus I now have pulsative tinnitus which is in the form of any high frequency sound (like traffic/ kettle boiling, wind etc) pulses in my right ear rather than being clear. Its always there but made worse by outside sounds which is tricky as I use a fan to help sleep and cover

Went because I had some pain and the nurse said the wax had to be cleared so they could see the ear drum. Went back to doctors today as pain worse and have been told I have

The effect of L-thyroxine hormone therapy on hearing loss in hypothyroid patients
We have had numerous posts which have questioned whether ear/hearing issues are (or can be) associated with hypothyroidism. This accessible paper, despite having a small number of subjects, is pretty clear that there is much association. Two sentences: "The most common symptom of hypothyroidism with

Hearing test?
I know we are all different but I was just wondering if the general view is that Puretone audiometry, tympanometry and otoaccoustic testing is OK to go ahead with when you have tinnitus. I appreciate things needs to be measured but am a bit fearful of anything in my ears that will create a reaction.

Hello everyone! I am posting this on behalf of my hubby, he is about to be 42 and for about a year or so he had been feeling a bit off (mostly tiredness, lethargic, not a lot of drive to do things, etc - he even lost some weight without trying and with no changes to diet or lifestyle) which very unlike

At last
Finally...I was referred by my GP to ENT services to check for an acoustic neuroma back in May 2021, finally 1 year later I am due to see a consultant next week. It's been that long waiting for a referral that I'm a little nervous now 😂 it's just to see a consultant then they will list me for an MRI

Starting to give up
I have felt my hearing has just got dramatically worse and I fear if I tell my employers about it they might reproach me. It's so horrible having this at 20. I have tried everything to stop it worsening such as earplugs etc in heavy traffic etc and everything but don't know what else to do. I sometimes

Meds after spinal fusion
My fusion was 11 weeks ago and I still need an occasional dose of my prescription medication. I have heard that otc meds such as aleve and ibuprofen can interfere with bone grafting, so I have been avoiding them. Surgeon said the otc's were okay to take at this point but I would rather wait until I
