Are people with previous drug and alcohol problems eligible to get a liver transplant?
I'm pretty sure I've got serious liver problems. Blood tests were good but i can't definitive tests at the moment. I used to smoke legal highs (cannaboids) years ago and I think they fucked up my liver. Since then I've been a binge drinker which i think pushed it over the edge. I haven't taken drugs

Stem cell transplant anniversary
It is now exactly 12 months almost to the minute since I watched the bag of stem cells slowly drain into the Hickman line. It's been a very eventful 12 months to say the least. Since my last post 9 months ago I had a difficult end to 2019. I was hospitalised for pneumonia in October which turned out

In extremely vulnerable group but don't understand why
On Monday I got a text, followed by a letter, informing me that I have been identified as someone at risk of severe illness and thereby extremely vulnerable if I were to catch coronavirus. Instructions are not to leave home, even for food and meds, and stay away from others indoors. There is a list of

Liver Transplant - coronavirus Wales
There will no doubt be a number of people out there who have had a liver transplant, and who are still expecting to receive a letter from the government informing them that they are on the, "high at risk" scale, due to their bodies immune system being turned down. It would appear that some of these

Anyone following a specific diet after kidney transplant??
Hello. I am curious if anyone is following a specific diet after their transplant? I know we can eat everything (except grapefruit in my case due to tacro interaction), but after my creatinine increased, I have started a soft vegetarian diet (no meat but seafood and light dairy is okay). Vegetarian,

E/M Codes for Kidney Transplant Evaluation
Did my pre-transplant testing day in January and received invoice from practice. They billed traditional Evaluation/Management codes E/M codes and expected some type of pre-transplant screening CPT. Does anyone have deeper billing coding guidance on this?

An account of a brain cell transplant
This stem cell transplant did not produce a cure but it is an interesting read to understand where the state of medicine is right now regarding a cure or at least a treatment for Parkinson's disease. https://www.statnews.com/2020/05/12/medical-first-parkinsons-brain-cell-transplant-stem-cells/

Let’s try “Dry Covid” – lockdown is the time to kick our national alcohol habit for good
"Off licenses aren't essential services – and closing them during the coronavirus pandemic would yield more for the nation’s health than almost any other policy intervention." Just to let people know, that at the moment the QE Hospital in Birmingham have put liver transplants on hold for the time being

Hello everyone
I am a liver transplant recipient, long wait on the transplant list, 19 months, due to my type B blood. Usual complications that come with end stage decompensated cirrhosis. Transplanted August 2018 at the Royal Free and making an excellent recovery after a long journey. Happy to ask for and give support
