Hello. I am curious if anyone is following a specific diet after their transplant? I know we can eat everything (except grapefruit in my case due to tacro interaction), but after my creatinine increased, I have started a soft vegetarian diet (no meat but seafood and light dairy is okay). Vegetarian, vegan, no high protein diet? Thank you for responding

Anyone following a specific diet after kidney transplant??
Well I never was in a diet not untill I reach ckd stage 3 that's when I decide to change I eat lots of fruits especially berries ,veggies and seafood well not all seafood is good eat fish definitely rainbow trout, salmon try not to eat red meat avoid eating fast food that's one one thing that I manage to stay alway from years ago and lucky for me I stayed on ckd stage 2 for 17 years and i think is because I stayed alway from fast food and junk food always eat home cooked meals .
Anywayz I hope this help good luck...
Thank you so much for your advice! Yes, I ignored all diets until now- being ckd 3. I'm trying to definitely avoid all red meat and junk food. I've started eating more veggies and fruits. I can definitely tell my skin has gotten brighter, but wont know for sure until my labs in a week or two.
Dear Dna4christ,
Fatso here, I just EAT! Ok nor grapefruit, that can 'affect' Immuno-Suppressant Drugs, but otherwise..... I'm Always being 'Told Off', for it🙊.

Ook good for u but not everyone is the same everyone is different lucky u that still eats what ever u want but like Dna4christ said I didnt go on a diet per say when I was in stage 2 I eat what ever I wanted and even drink and was find for 17 years until 2016 when I when to stage 3 and decided for myself is the best to change my diet for my kidney, stage 3 is not the same as stage 2 . I want my kidney to last a little longer and if I have to go on a diet and eat healthier I will do it to keep myself healthier and alway from dialysis as long as I can . Anywayz Good Luck and God bless ....✌
Before my transplant my nephrologist told me no meat no dairy! I was at stage 4. I hired a dietitian and I ate according to my labs. Working with my dietitian, my numbers improved. 10 months after my transplants I ended up having an endoscopy and my gallbladder removed. Since then I’m feeling much better but I have gone to a plant-based diet. I do eat fish but eat shrimp sparingly because it’s very high in cholesterol. I was also having issues with my parathyroid gland before the transplant and I’m pretty sure I probably will have a couple of them removed. Will find out on my next visit to the doctor.
For 20 years now post transplant. I have never followed a diet per se. I try to eat heart healthy, drink plenty of water and still try to cook NO-added salt. For years now my creatinine has been a steady 0.9 with normal potassium, and magnesium. I stay away from sweets except for special occasions.
That's really great. Yeah, my kidney is too sensitive I suppose.. when I first received it, my creatinine was .8. Slowly increased over the years.. I dont know what I can do tbh. I dont even eat that unhealthy. My weight has been around 100 lbs. I'm pretty fit, and I drink plenty of water (2liters) for my weight and height (5'3"). I dont have high blood pressure or diabetes. We will see if a vegetarian diet will help :). Thank you for responding!
