Advice on P1NP test please....
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis of the spine 2 years ago and have (after lots of deliberation) agreed I should start taking alendronic acid. I also have hypothyroidism and when I saw my endocronologist (who happens to also be a osteoporosis specialist) he said I should get a P1NP marker test done before

I was diagnosed with OP about 10 years ago due to an early menopause at 38 and was put on the weekly medication of Alendronic Acid along with calcichew. Everything was ok until 2021 when I had emergency abdominal surgery, I was in ICU for nine days and my family were told I only had a 30% chance of

When PMR Goes Away
When first diagnosed with PMR and feeling like I was never going to be myself again, some friends, acquaintances and even a couple medical professionals assured me the diagnosis was the best of the myalgia’s to have to deal with because it is the one that actually goes away. If you do some research,

what is the risk from ALA?
What is this community’s take on ALA, as found in flaxseed oil? Is there risk for prostate cancer? If there is “risk”, is that solely an association with increased PSA? i.e. do significant amounts of flaxseed oil cause a change only in one’s baseline PSA? i.e. does it promote the [i]

Which tests do your providers recommend annually?
Hello Everyone, I was diagnosed in 2018 and have had no issues, as bloodwork abnormalities led to my diagnosis, rather than symptoms. Fortunately for me, after I began taking Ursodiol, I have had normal bloodwork also. However, I've bounced around providers, in part due to the pandemic, and in part

Prostrate Cancer treatment ADT
HiI am being treated for PC. After diagnose I was put on ADT treatment. This stops testosterone production. Had a bone scan and found I have osteopenia. I am taking a calcium citrate with vitamin D. Also once per week Alendronate 70mg. Has anyone else been in the same boat? Thanks

Fibroids and Norethisterone, bleeding and spotting
Hi all, I know you've each got enough to deal with, but I've been having a difficult few months and am after some advice. In February I was diagnosed with multiple fibroids. One of them is very large. I've had several ultrasounds and a hysteroscopy booked in for this week. My periods were very heavy

Haz58
Hello Haz58, I’m sorry you are having such a rotten time in sorting out the medications which you can tolerate. I could not take Azapriothine or Methotrexate but have settled reasonably happily with a daily routine of Bisoprolol, Levothyroxine, Amlodipine, Prednisolone, Ursodeoxycholic Acid, Losartan

Alendronic acid and raised Potassium levels
Hi I have been on Alendronic acid for 4 mths now. I have - 3 lumbar spinal osteoporosis but also have chronic kidney deficiency. My past two blood tests are showing raised 5.7 mmols/l and I’m wondering if it’s linked to my Alendronic acid?

Stopping Alendronic Acid
I've been taking Alendronic Acid along with pred (on the insistence of GPs and rheumy) for 2 years. At last I've managed to get a Dexa scan and they told me that my bones are good/normal and that there is no need to take the AA. Do I need to taper or can I just stop? Also wouldn't it make sense to do

Alendronic Acid
Hi I've had PMR for over 4 years now and am on 3mg pred. as the last time I managed to reduce and come off pred. I had a flare up . I also take Alendronic Acid. I've had toothache in a lower back molar on and off for the past year and the dentist says I either need root canal work or have it extracted

Gasoline?
A question for anyone who has found an answer... From 2018, when diagnosed, I have been told by doctors, urologists and oncologists that; "Testosterone, in prostate cancer, is like gasoline on a fire!" When I first heard this it seemed dubious since what I "knew" about PCa was that young men with

Rheumatologist referral
Hi everyone I was diagnosed in October 2021 with PMR. I followed the doctors ‘normal’ reduction plan at first. I was able to get down to 5 mg with reasonable ease although I was never 100% free from some pain and stiffness but didn’t affect my qol . I then found this site and started to follow advice
