Important from The PBC Foundation....
We are emphasising two things in this letter: 1) That
Obeticholic
Acid
, aka OCA or Ocaliva continues to have a license, even if it is still conditional, as a treatment for PBC.

Wednesday's Word
The only approved second line treatment is the use of Ovaliva (
acid
) . Bezafibrates (fenofibrates in the US) have been used as well along with Ocaliva but neither of these drug groups are licensed yet. Right now they are being used in clinical trials.

Hi, this is my story
I broke my foot following a fall off a high kerb in August 2021 and should have been referred for a DEXA scan by the minor injuries unit who treated this, but wasn't until I asked my GP for one, following a tip off from a friend who knew that that is NHS guidance. Following the DEXA scan and recommendation

Alendronic acid
Do you really need to keep taking those tablets when your managing to reduce your pred successfully? I must admit I don't tend to forget sometimes. Has anyone stopped taking them?

Advice needed
Hi, my wife has endometriosis and I am wondering just how exactly I can convince a Dr about the level of pain she is in? Her journey started with very heavy and long periods on average between 10-20 days of very heavy bleeding, then she would have 3-5 days without and then again 10-20 days bleeding

Please share experience or advice re Risedronic acid and zoledronic acid use for low T score/ osteoporosis in GCA/PMR.
I have recently had a follow up Dexa scan. The last one was 2 years ago. I have GCA and PMR. At 20 mg pred and reducing after a recent flare of GCA. The scan has shown a significant deterioration in my lumbar spine but not in my hips/femur region which are still osteopenic. L1-L4 5/6/2024. BMD

Difficulty in getting bone scan results
Hi there I had a bone scan in October last year and after months of chasing finally got a call from my GP surgery on 7 June to inform me they had my results, that I have osteoporosis and need to go on alendronic acid. I have been checking my NHS app for the actual results but they've not been added

Immonocompromised CLLer with numerous warts.
I've had CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) for at least 15 years, currently on oral therapy (acalabrutinib) to control my leukemia. One annoying problem that has worsened in the past year is an increase of warts. I've had warts for over 10 years, but they have not been as numerous or cosmetically
