Anticoagulation considerations for newly diagnosed AF members
This is a post particularly for newly diagnosed members who maybe concerned at some of things they may have read recently about the increased risk of bleeding due to taking anticoagulants. I’m not medically trained, nor (as far as I know) are any of the contributors featured in the links below but what

glucose in urine
have done a urine dipstick test and it shows positive for glucose. I’m a bit worried and will ring gp but could this be a sign of liver disease and diabetes?

How effective is fenofibrate for itch?
My doctor suggested a few different drugs, like rifampricin, naltrexone, and fenofibrate for my itch. He prescribed fenofibrate as he thinks it works best. Does anyone here take it and if so, has it helped? I'm worried about the warnings it comes with about severe liver damage.

After a long, tortuous fight to get diagnosed and treated with/for hypothyroidism, which was achieved almost entirely with the help and info from this forum, I think that my meds are now very close to perfect and my blood test results are continuing to improve. So thank you again to everyone. But I

Octasa and Diarrhea
Hi there, I have diagnosed UC, on last day of an 8 week course of steroids which stopped all my symptoms (bloody lose stool).I am also on day 10 of 6 x 800 mg Octasa. In the last 48 hours started getting diarrhea and fatigue and mild stomach cramps. 6 x loose/watery stools a day. Is this a normal side

Tirosint
I am unable to take tablet form levothyroxine, I have a gene issue with metabolising some medications. I have started liquid thyroxine but I think the ingredients are affecting my stomach and I have been told to stop taking this to see if it is the cause. I see that Tirosint is quite pure but not sure

A Kinda Update.
As things stand I have finished my BCG treatment which it seems has failed. I visited my GP and she asked how I was - gave me a script for to wet my mouth and some Folic Acid. I mentioned so pain I have in ribs - not very bad but there,. She prodded my ribs and yes there was some (not bad pain).

Late diagnosis of asbestosis
My Dad is 96 and has had progressive lung disease for many years. He's a non-smoker and I always wondered about the cause. On 16 October this year he was referred to a respiratory consultant for the first time. She took a detailed work history (again, the first one to do so) and we realised just how

Alverine and/or Simalvia - (which is alverine citrate with simethicone.) Side effects.
I have recently been put on these. I have found that both the standard alverine citrate, which I had tried first, now the Simalvia, cause feelings of extreme anxiety about an hour after taking the tablet! Weird and not listed in the side effects. So far it seems ineffective on the pain anyway. Would

New Diagnosis: Right Eye Normal Pressure Glaucoma.
Apparently two yrs ago at my previous eye test with photos of the back of my eye, a note was made that there seemed to be something going on with the optic nerve. I wasn't informed. At my last eye test the new optician reported the same and told me of the previous photo. She referred me to the hospital

Ectropion eye
Has anyone any advice on ectropion eye? I have glaucoma and diplopia and have been advised to have an operation to tighten the bottom eyelid. This is on my good eye, so I am rather nervous about it.

Stronger sense of taste on Urso
Has anyone here noticed a stronger sense of taste whilst taking Urso? Specifically sweet and salty tastes seem much stronger since I have been taking them.

Finally a specialist appointment...
I am looking forward to an appt in 2 days with a specialist in proctology and she is a colon surgeon and does pelvic floor therapy as well. My hemerrhoids - or whatever this is - are not getting better. Keeping the constipation under control with diet, water, miralax and occasional stool softener.

I have just received an email from my GP who has arranged for a F2F appointment to see me beginning January to discuss me starting to take Prolia. My last Dexascan in 2021 did show that I have osteoporosis, and I did take Alendronic Acid for the first two years of having Polymyalgia. Since then I have
