have done a urine dipstick test and it shows positive for glucose. I’m a bit worried and will ring gp but could this be a sign of liver disease and diabetes?

Certainly diabetes. This was how I spotted my diabetes. GP did a blood test when I went to them.
I’ve never heard of glucose in urine linked to liver disease. You’re doing the right thing going to your GP though.
