Only prednisolone??: Has anyone been prescribed... - PMRGCAuk
Only prednisolone??
Many are offered it as a so-called steroid sparer and it may or may not do so. On its own it does not work for PMR, steroids are the mainstay of management of PMR.
Apologies for my question, My neighbour told me he’d been on methotrexate for pmr but he was confused as he has rheumatoid arthritis. Thank you for you answer
Me to tried Methotrexate no use for PMR.used for Rheumatoid Arthritis I do not have RA
Steroids are the basic drug and methotrexate is given to help you to wean off the steroids for PMR.
I am on 5mg of prednisolone just now for pmr.I am also on methotrexate 15 mg injection for my RA.My polymyalgia is acting up and i see my Rheumy consultant in twoweeks time. This is my second relapse and i don't feel the Metho helped me .I also take a jak inhibitor Filgotinib.
I have been taking Methotrexate for about 20 years for RA. It has helped me immensely
I was diagnosed with PMR in the Fall of 2020. I was initially prescribed 20mg of prednisone and stepped down over 18 months until I didn't take it anymore and was prescribed 25mg of methotrexate weekly. I'm now on 12.5mg of methotrexate weekly and doing well. Male, 75.
