Has anyone tried pulsed electric magnetic field therapy for PMR relief?
I am having trouble tapering. Can't seem to get much below 15 mg; went down to 10 mg but still having some pain in the mornings. So increased dosage on advice of rheumy. At this rate, I'll be on prednisone for a long, long time. So wondering if anyone has tried alternative treatments to try to get

Prefer pain to steroids!
in 2019 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, in 2023 following a dexa I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. Today a rheumatologist told me despite negative blood tests he was pretty certain I have PMR and after further blood tests wants me to start taking prednisone. I chose not to take meds for the osteoporosis

Whoops! I made a boo-boo.
A week ago I visited the rheumatologist, who prescribed reducing Prednisone from 5mg to 4g daily and adding 20mg hydrocortisone. All part of the wean-off steroids.Stupidly, and because I was massively distracted by life circumstances, I didn't take in her instructions properly and reduced overnight

Hi all, at last I have plucked up courage to post on here..... Sorry it is a long one.Back in Aug '22 I suddenly started getting weak hands, swollen ankles and other achey symptoms. Prednisone query
HI all Just need a bit of info please. Saw GP on Thursday, who I think is a little in the dark about PMR, he said he has never seen a case before, but reads all the guidance. I started at 15mg and great results. After 3 weeks went to 12.5mg, also comfortable, then on hi guidance, went to 10mg after

New Year, old me??🤞
Happy New Year everyone! I’ve been on my PMR/GCA journey for just over 5 years & I am hoping that 2024 see me back to “normal”! I’ve been on 0.5mgs Prednisolone for about 2 months now & had no problems when reducing from 1mg, so today I’ve taken a leap of faith & taken none! I’ll do it gradually & if

Curious about my experiance. Interested in what others think?
Had stiff muscles and increasingly sore knees and shoulders and finding it difficult/impossible bending down. Here in Wales Drs do not prescribe physiotherapy, we have to do it ourselves. Usually takes about about 12 weeks to be seen. However my disabled partner was in hospital with 2 osteoporotic vertebral

Curious about Prednisone dosage.
Warriors If you do not mind telling me, I am curious about how many of you on Zytiga/Abiraterone take a 5 mg dosage of Prednisone , and how many take some other dosage level. I know most of your also getting Lupron injections and some are taking other medications along with the Zytiga/Abiraterone

Morning Stiffness still alive and kicking after 4+ years of treatment!
Hello to everyone. It's been 6 months since I last posted. I was diagnosed with PMR and GCA in February of 2020. Though I am positive I had it for at least a year before being diagnosed. I was down to 2 mg of Prednisone the last time I posted. Did not do well on that low dosage. Went back up to 7 mg.

feeling scared coping with necessity to increase dose after flare
A bit of history..... My PMR was diagnosed in June 2021 and I started on 15mg prednisolone. (it had been undiagnosed since the Feb). I discovered this network and have dipped in on and off to pick up tips - Thank you! I managed pretty well getting down to 5mg by September 2022 but then being aware

Hi all. Have been diagnosed with GCA since January. Doctor at the hospital started me on 40mls Prednisone (from which I have had terrible side effects) I am now from this morning down to 12.5ml, but last night in bed have had bad headache and tenderness on the forehead. Definitely feels like a flare

Tapering and Fatigue
Hello All Some advice would be very welcome. I completed a slow taper (over 4 weeks) form 9.5 to 9mg prednisolone 10 days ago and thought I was doing quite well. However, in the last two days I have been completely overcome with fatigue such that I am barely able to function. I also feel a bit shaky

Prednisolone query
I recently requested coated prednisolone which my doctor has prescribed. I expected they would not have a line down the middle, but they appear to look exactly the same as the uncoated ones. They were issued in a plain white box with a dispensary printed label stating “prednisolone 5mg Gastro-Resistant

hello
I was diagnosed with PMR about four years ago. Generally I am a positive person and I don’t dwell on my symptoms but getting off prednisolone seems to be impossible. I get down to 1mg then it flares again. I’m beginning to see a correlation between the flu vaccination and a flare up. I try to think
