Encouraging results from the CureParkinsons supported Phase II clinical trial of the GLP-1R agonist Liraglutide
There were 37 randomly assigned to Liraglutide & 18 on placebo (2:1); At 54 weeks, non-motor symptoms scale scores had improved by 6.6 points in the liraglutide group & worsened by 6.5 points in the placebo group; MDS-UPDRS III (change from baseline) = not significantly different Secondary outcome analysis

Marinated Tofu Vegetable Stir-fry
For this stir fry I marinated Tofu in sesame oil, crushed garlic and fresh red chilli chopped finely and a pinch of salt for 30 mins. Veggies are broccoli, sliced red pepper and julienned carrots All served on a bed of bulgur wheat ( optional) or any grain of your choice A sprinkling of toasted sesame

Oral berberine improves brain dopa/dopamine levels to ameliorate Parkinson’s disease by regulating gut microbiota
EDIT March 17, 2024:
Today somebody shared a link to a two year old post of mine about a report on Berberine being neurotoxic and taking it off of my stack. Within a few months I found other information on Berberine and, using my High School educated brain, decided that Berberine definitely needed

Blood Glucose numbers with APS
Just wondering as my Primary care Dr. recently ran blood tests and said my Glucose readings were slightly high at 120 or so. I have altered my intake of Carbs and Sugar quite a bit and was curious if having APS and taking Warfarin is affecting my Blood Glucose numbers at all? Age 69 and have had APS

Personalised Vitamin Plans (radio)
Just a quick alert to the devious vitamin sales people! I'm sure many here are all too well aware of schemes like these. However, the end result seems to suggest just taking a multivitamin. And we know that there is a strong (and evidenced) view that multivitamins are not ideal. Issues like combinations

Any Strategies For Controlling Blood Sugar While Taking Thyroid Meds
I am not a diabetic. Before having my thyroidectomy my glucose levels never rose above 82. Controlling by morning blood sugars have been especially difficult, maybe due to taking the meds at 6am while the "Dawn Effect" is still present. Do anyone exercise in the mornings before taking their meds

Cholesterol and hypothyroidism
I was wondering if there is any relationship between these, had mine checked they aren’t like really bad but my HDL is a bit low and my total cholesterol is a bit high. I don’t know, could be diet related also.

Anion gap redux, potassium?
Recently i saw on here a discussion of low anion gap. I tried searching on HU but only found posts by people talking about other diseases, so clearly not the post and discussion I recall. Can anyone direct me to that discussion? If not, can anyone summarize the significance of low anion gap? Just

Anyone tried Berberine?
I think this is the wrong place to post, but not sure where to as it's both related to PCOS, T1D, Insulin resistance and Infertility, some of which are related/conditioned by Hashi.. So, basically was researching recently and discovered that Berberine may have very positive effects (in some studies

Low carb, high fat diet
When I was first diagnosed I decided I wanted to watch my weight. I had put on weight over the years and was 12 stone. I had read about reducing carbohydrates. A few months after my PMR diagnosis I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I read all I could and changed my diet to a low carb, high fat diet

Another interesting insight from a doctor - this time Dr Nadir Ali at a “low carb down under” conference.
This doctor has realised that the medical profession needs to listen to its knowledgeable patients in order to make progress. Yay!! Here is his first slide. The last word - on the next slide - is “buggy whipped”. For anyone interested in the benefits of a low carb high fat diet, and the reasons why

Delivering into the Mounting Evidence of a Probable Link between Maternal Hypothyroidism and Breech Presentation at Term
